Customers: Moscow Center for Automated Air Traffic Control (ICAUVD)

Contractors: Azimuth, GC

Project date: 2025/12

The new air traffic control system "Galactica," developed by the company "Azimut," received a certificate of the type of Rosaviation and will be introduced in the Moscow Regional Center of the Unified Air Traffic Management System in 2026. This became known on December 29, 2025.

The system has successfully passed operational tests. The Moscow Regional Center of the Unified Air Traffic Management System is part of the state air traffic management corporation subordinate to the Federal Air Transport Agency. Deputy Head of the Federal Air Transport Agency Andrei Potemkin presented a type certificate to Azimuth General Director Asker Saidov at the Moscow Center for Automated Air Traffic Control.

Moscow region switches to a new unified air traffic control system "Galaxy

The Moscow zone of the Unified Air Traffic Management System is the most difficult in terms of the number of airfields, types of flights and air traffic intensity in Russia. In the area of responsibility of the center of automated air traffic control there are more than 100 airfields, including 10 international ones. About 20% of all flights in Russia are operated by dispatchers of the Moscow Center branch.

The new automated system works entirely on domestic equipment and software. The creation of "Galaxy" took four years. Financing of works, acceptance and operational tests were carried out through the state corporation for the organization of air traffic.

The subordinate institution in the structure of the Federal Air Transport Agency - the State Research Institute of Civil Aviation - was responsible for scientific and technical support and certification work. An integrated approach ensured that the system meets all requirements. Certification confirmed the readiness of the Galaxy for operation.

Deputy Head of the Federal Air Transport Agency Andrei Potemkin noted that for the most saturated flight zone in the country, the transition to the Galaxy will be an important stage in air traffic control. According to him, in addition to unconditional safety of flights, a more advanced option for managing the flows of departing and arriving aircraft will be used.[1]
