Students of the university Innopolis will develop the interface of the EC2015-Terem virtualization platform

The industrial project of I-Teco company is selected by the University Innopolis for development by forces of undergraduates of a new control interface of the corporate EC2015-Terem virtualization platform.

Teachers of domestic IT university, having considered three tens requests at the end of 2015, selected seven projects, proceeding from interests and preferences of students, and the management of the university agreed with representatives of the Russian business about a new format of practice. Fixing the studied theory by practice by the principle of learning by doing extended to development of software, pupils according to the master program "Management of Software Development" (MSIT-SE) will try the hand in real projects, and customers as a result will have free of charge developed IT products and an opportunity of operational testing of new solutions. At the same time the intellectual rights to software will remain behind the companies.

For assessment of success of application of this concept of training it is necessary to understand accurately the purposes in terms of business and educational process and to build up partnership in which both parties (the customer and the university) understand that each of them should make to receive the expected result. Treat business objectives: inexpensive labor power, easy access to professional software developers, use of the best practices, an opportunity to quickly test different solutions and to try new methodologies of development. The academic purposes are a training at a basis of real tasks, cooperation with industrial partners, integration with basic courses of the MSIT-SE program, an opportunity to study on own errors, to try different approaches and to analyze the got experience. By consideration of requests the university selected projects from different data domains which are not critical for business of the customer; represent technology challenge; require not less than 2 thousand man-hours for implementation; involve the skills received by students within the MSIT-SE program; stages of requirements gathering, design of architecture, technical design, development and testing include. To these criteria there corresponded projects of the product provider for data protection of Acronis, Ak Bars bank, Runa Capital venture fund, the developer of online services for accounting of business of SKB Kontur, the educational Дневник.ру platform, the analytical platform for managers of Visiology and I-Teco system integrator.

During the special project as a part of educational process starting in January, 2016 on which implementation about 40% of time by the curriculum will leave commands on 3-4 persons will work on tasks within seven months. Each command will be supervised by mentors from among professors of the university and representatives of the IT companies. The role of the mentor in this process is extremely important: without being the project manager and/or the consultant for the customer, it is designed to direct students towards an optimal solution of a problem, without giving at the same time ready recipes. At the end of summer of the 2016th contractors present the projects that will be equated to a thesis defense at the rate of. And the students who proved from the best side will have an opportunity to join development teams of customer companies.
