Project Objective

In 2004 there was a consolidation of ROSBANK and banks of the OVK group. ROSBANK and banks of the OVK group had the developed IT infrastructure, in general providing current demands of business of each of banks.

Each of systems rather well covered functional business needs of that bank in which it developed, but owing to distinction of types of activity of banks, any of them could not be used as a single system of joint ROSBANK without considerable processings. It was necessary to provide accomplishment of end-to-end business processes, to create a common information space of the systems of ROSBANK, the unified access mechanism of the user to data from the geographical distributed branches and also to make a system easily expanded and capable to development.

The alternative solution was in purchase of the new unified information system instead of two, available in bank. However the cost and an implementation time of such system were unacceptable for successful business of bank that practically crossed out all advantages which could be received as a result of consolidation of business of two banks.

Solution

The S&T company suggested to consolidate the information systems (IS) of joint ROSBANK due to creation of the single integration platform (IP).

Specialists S&T conducted analytical examination and the main directions of business of ROSBANK and their covering are selected with IT technologies. For each IT technology which is subject to integration were defined:

  • Models of thread communication of details within the selected directions of business of ROSBANK
  • Methods of communications of the interacting applied applications within model of interaction and a data model

For project implementation the methodology of use of the integration platform representing a set of the phases repeating depending on solvable integration tasks of ROSBANK was created.

As the platform for business integration the IBM WebSphere Business Integration Server technology which integrates integration of processes and applications in one product was selected.

The developed methodology of use of the integration platform and examination S&T in work with IBM WebSphere Business Integration Server technology allowed to provide the main requirements of ROSBANK:

  • Scalability – accounting by an information system of perspective requirements of bank. The developed architecture and methodology of use of the integration platform are open for the subsequent development of the directions of business of ROSBANK
  • Security, availability, reliability – ensuring business continuity
  • Integration – interaction on the basis of the general standards, the formalized data view and protocols
  • Standardization and unification – use of standard industrial solutions from the famous producers. The selected technology of integration is constructed based on the industry, open and unified standards supported by different IT manufacturing
  • Cost efficiency – use of any solutions should be justified and it is reasonable. Cost management should be exercised using modern methods, taking into account TSO – total cost of ownership. Taking into account use of the above described methodology creation of segments of the integration platform using different IT technologies at cost not to the detriment of the general architecture of the platform is possible
  • Independence - "ROSBANK" should not get to critical dependence on the only supplier of information systems and IT solutions, including own programmers. The above described methodology, including all necessary phases of activities for connection, implementation, change and maintenance of new IT systems, the directions of business and the external environment of functioning of information technologies of ROSBANK (network infrastructure) is applied to use of the integration platform
  • The flexibility and Succession – an information system should be executed in the form of addition to already existing system and architecture. There has to be a light adaptability to changes of internal business processes and the external environment. For each IT system which is again integrated to the integration platform or business processes a standard set of components and descriptions (adapters, information entities, shopping center, recommendations about topology) which are added to the description of architecture is created and are its addition.

Result

The project on integration of an information system of joint ROSBANK which is carried out by S&T company allowed:

  • carry out integration of applied information systems of ROSBANK within the most demanded business processes
  • lower time and costs for integration of an information system of ROSBANK
  • simplify carrying out integration of an information system of ROSBANK due to use of uniform methodology of work with the integration platform
  • provide cutting of costs for support and development of already integrated information systems of ROSBANK

The works which are carried out on creation of the integration platform provided implementation of the strategic IT purpose of ROSBANK until 2008:

  • merge of business of ROSBANK and banks of the OVK group;
  • functioning of joint ROSBANK;
  • creation of the effective unified information system providing achievement of goals of strategic development until 2008.
