Mosvodokanal completed the project of consolidation of IT systems

On May 26, 2015 the IT company announced completion of works in the project "Creation of uniform IT infrastructure in JSC Mosvodokanal".

Project Tasks

Creation of IT infrastructure in JSC Mosvodokanal was preceded by a pilot project within which, a few years ago, at the customer were implemented:

• directory service on the Microsoft Active Directory platform,
• Microsoft Lync 2010
• Microsoft Exchange 2010.

About 500 employees of the company - heads, technical specialists became users of a system. Pilot implementation showed possibilities of communications systems of Microsoft, the functionality was useful and the decision on its expansion was made. Besides, remote access of users using mobile devices was required.

Project Progress

At the end of 2013 the company integrator completed design of uniform IT infrastructure as a part of which:

• uniform service of the directory,
• single mail system,
• system of the joint communications.

Implementation of a core of future system generally and reserve DPCs became the next stage of works that provided fault tolerance of the solution.

After that migration of all platforms in new service of the directory, the new mail Microsoft Exchange 2013 system, new service of the joint communications on the Microsoft Lync Server 2013 platform which was in turn integrated with the system of a video conferencing Cisco and Skype is executed.

For May 26, 2015 in a system 5 thousand automated workplaces work.

Project Results

Project implementation helped to bring working interaction between the staff of JSC Mosvodokanal to higher new level due to use of Microsoft Exchange Server technologies (first of all – scheduling opportunities), instant messages, an opportunity to make video calls, to share materials, to hold meetings and webinars. Creation of the centralized solution provided a possibility of control of communications, both in terms of observance of corporate standards, and in terms of information security.

The solutions used within the project:

• Microsoft Exchange Server 2013
• Microsoft Lync Server 2013.

Implementation happened in conditions when 80% of workstations were affected by the outdated versions of Microsoft Outlook which are not supported by a mail system. Within the project all e-mail clients are updated and connected to a system. Work was complicated by features of legacy infrastructure: data from 42 domains on 50 platforms are transferred to uniform IT infrastructure.
