2022: Plan for the development and installation of a robotic complex for spring production

The Joint Metallurgical Company (OMK, Moscow) and Innopolis University (Republic of Tatarstan) signed a contract for the development and installation of a robotic complex for the spring production of OMK in Chusovoy (Perm Territory). OMK announced this on September 21, 2022.

Innopolis University will develop and implement by mid-2023 three industrial robots for OMK spring production, including the development and manufacture of equipment, installation supervision, programming of control systems for automation and vision, etc. The future robotic complex will provide automation of the technological process: from loading spring sheets into the heating furnace to unloading finished sheets into containers.

To ensure the required high level of industrial safety, all units and assemblies will be equipped with software and hardware security tools, and the complex will be equipped with protective barriers and fences.

Robotics is one of our profiling areas. So on the basis of Innopolis University since 2018, the Competence Center NTI in the direction of @ Technologies of robotics components and mechatronics @ has been operating, whose specialists are engaged in developments in the field of industrial robots, drones walking robots projects and in the field of neuro. sciences As part of the implementation of the contract, together with partners, we are ready to apply all our accumulated experience and accumulated competencies,
said Iskander Bariev, first vice-rector - deputy director of Innopolis University.

The robotic complex will complement the work of imported robots that are already installed at our spring production. We hope that increasing the level of automation of technological processes will reduce the time of production and guarantee a consistently high quality of springs for the automotive industry. As of September 2022, we perform part of the operations manually, by automation on the line we minimize the risk of injury to employees, "said Azat Imamov, managing director of the Chusov plant of OMK.
