"Karelia Pulp" booked audit of program assets

On October 13, 2016 the Softline company announced project completion of the complex analysis of license compliance of the software of Microsoft used in IT infrastructure of Kareliya Pulp LLC.

Project Tasks

The Karelia Pulp company rose before difficulties in questions of licensing of software. Null information according to current contracts and licenses of Microsoft, effective instruments of accounting of program resources in need of purchase planning of software and expense optimization on IT infrastructure.

Understanding potential risks, the company management made the decision to book audit of program assets and a status of accounting of licenses softwares of Microsoft. The IT partner selected Softline company.

Project Progress

The contractor used the product Microsoft Assessment and Planning (MAP) Toolkit as the instrument of inventory.

Specialists of Softline carried out works:

• checked 141 workstations,
• checked six physical and 11 virtual servers,
• verified licenses with the actual credentials,
• analyzed documents of title on software of Microsoft.

Special attention was paid to Windows servers of the customer and licenses of client access.

Project Results

Based on inspection specialists of Softline provided recommendations about optimization of a packet of licenses, data on the most profitable and convenient programs of licensing suitable under our requirements. Vitaly Linkov, leading system administrator "Karelia Pulp"

Also data on the outdated software creating threat of information security and feasible measures on increase in fault tolerance of a system were reflected in the report. The plan of transition to the following SAM level developed as a result will allow the company to minimize legal and financial risks, to optimize expenses and to effectively use software.
