2023: Kuka delivers Tesla "army of industrial robots"

On December 24, 2022, it was reported that Tesla received a new batch of Kuka robots - industrial manipulators used in production. It is assumed that they will be involved in the release of Cybertruck electric pickups.

German Kuka robots are used on all Tesla production lines. These are bright red and orange automated installations that assemble some of Tesla's key electric vehicle components. In addition, Elon Musk's company uses Japanese Fanuc manipulators.

Tesla receives a new batch of Kuka robots - industrial manipulators used in production

It is reported that on December 18, 2022, a batch of 66 Kuka robots for Tesla arrived in Houston (Texas). Apparently, these manipulators are designed to organize the assembly of Cybertruck - mass production of the pickup should begin in mid-2023. The named batch is not too large for large-scale production, so, as noted, other robots may soon arrive. On the other hand, Cybertruck's initial release is likely to be limited. Electrek notes that Kuka has supplied Tesla with an "army of industrial robots."

The Cybertruck is expected to be the next car Tesla will produce at the Gigafactory plant in Texas. This model made a lot of noise in part because of its revolutionary design, and in part because Elon Musk described the Cybertruck as "perhaps Tesla's best creation." At the same time, the company emphasizes that the attention of production groups will shift to Cybertruck only after the production volumes of the Model Y electric crossover reach design indicators. We are talking about assembling about 5,000 cars a week, while so far the Texas Tesla plant has reached about 3,000 cars a week. It is assumed that it will take several months to reach the required level.[1][2]
