What IT environment "Lyceum 1828 "Saburovo"" manages

On October 8, 2015 the company announced ALAN-information technologies project completion on system implementation of management of IT infrastructure in SEI Lyceum No. 1828 Saburovo on the Microsoft System Center 2012 R2 platform.

Project Tasks

Main objective of the project - ensuring centralized operation with IT infrastructure and uniform access to resources of lyceum from any mobile device or the computer.

Within the program of development of lyceum the main direction - information technology development:

• improvement of material and technical resources,
• integration of information and communication technologies into educational process
• creation of unified information educational environment for quality improvement of education and effective management of school.

In the presence of the created requirements the need for use of the tool for management of IT infrastructure, simplification of its administration and integration of internal network resources with external cloud services appeared.

SEI Lyceum No. 1828 Saburovo involved specialists of ALAN IT LLC to the solution of the main issues of optimization of information technology management.

Project Progress

The analysis of IT infrastructure of the customer showed existence of opportunities for deployment in this environment of products of the line Microsoft System Center 2012 R2 – the complete solution on management of a physical and virtual IT environment.

"Lyceum No. 1828 Saburovo is modern educational institution which uses the most relevant  interactive training aids. In the conditions of considerable expansion of IT infrastructure the Lyceum was faced the need of use of the high-quality tool for management. System Center promotes creation of complete understanding and control over IT infrastructure, increase in productivity of work, both the IT system, and educational institution in general", - Alexander Elin, the CEO of ALAN IT LLC noted.

The initial stage - deployment of virtualization on the Windows Server platform of Datacenter. The built-in Hyper-V technology provides optimization of material expenses on the server hardware and consolidation of server roles in separate virtual machines. For ensuring working capacity, fault tolerance and load distribution between applications unrolled a cluster of Always On Microsoft SQL 2012 R2 in virtual environment of the organization.

For simplification of management and monitoring of IT services, applications and servers implemented and configured the System Center Operations Manager component, and centralized operation with the system of virtualization was provided by System Center Virtual Machine Manager. System Center Configuration Manager gave an ability to manage, installations and settings of operating systems and the software, both in the domain, and on mobile devices.

Setup of services of federation Active Directory with the subsequent synchronization them with Azure AD helped to create a uniform point of authentication and authorization of users (Single Sign-On) to all cloud storages and local web applications.

Project Results

Process of administration of a local network load of IT department due to reduction of volume of manual transactions became simpler, decreased, indicators of its efficiency increased. The internal network of the customer began to work more steadily and quicker.

Teachers of Lyceum estimated systems capabilities on the System Center platform:

• operational installation and setup of educational software,
• access to resources of Lyceum from any mobile device,
• safe storage of methodical practices and materials in network "Lyceum No. 1828 Saburovo.

Pupils, using mobile devices, got access to all necessary school resources and programs.

As a result of project implementation of implementation of System Center and cloud computing in SEI Lyceum No. 1828 Saburovo conditions for quality improvement of education due to effective use and management of modern information technologies are created.

"Employees of IT department got new experience during the work with a modern system and all its opportunities, we will work on development of IT infrastructure further. We have in plans a deployment of the additional Windows Server Datacenter 2012 R2 server with a role of Hyper-V and its integration into uniform cloud infrastructure running Microsoft System Center 2012 R2", - Vladimir Davydov, the head of the computer center SEI Litseya N 1828 Saburovo told.
