Microsoft Active Directory

December 11, 2014. The Softline company updated structure of private "cloud" of the Ural department of RAS.

Infrastructure OURO RAHN is provided for information systems by Institute of mathematics and mechanics. Work of IT services is based on use of private "cloud" of Microsoft Hyper-V and a virtual machine manager of System Center Virtual Machine Manager. A crucial element of infrastructure is the directory service of the Active Directory (AD) which is located in DPC of institute and is controlled the Siberian department of RAS.

Choosing a Solution

For increase in availability of computing resources by IT specialists of the customer the decision to separate infrastructure services AD and the system of virtualization of the Ural and Siberian departments of RAS was made, having used resources of private "cloud". The partner from project implementation selected Softline company in which staff the engineers having all necessary competences for creation of cloud infrastructure work.

Goals and Objectives

The tasks of creation of independent domain infrastructure of private "cloud" OURO RAHN and providing opportunities of independent work of administrators were set for specialists of Softline.

Project Progress

During the project the new wood of the Active Directory was unrolled and virtual machines are organized; migration of resources from the old domain AD of the Siberian department of RAS and virtual machines on new is carried out; cloud computing is configured (App-controller, Windows Server gateway, the VM templates). In addition, the local DNS domain was created that allowed administrators not to add entries of the public domain in zones internal manually. The solution considerably increased IT security as internal and public domain records were separated.

Result

As a result the unrolled virtual infrastructure became independent, the efficiency of IT services considerably increased: time expenditure on administration, making changes and troubleshooting was reduced and also work of IT department is optimized. All this allowed to use as much as possible possibilities of virtual private "cloud" and to consolidate computing resources OURO RAHN.

In a project deliverable availability of IT services to the staff of the organization was increased, independent domain cloud infrastructure is created, administration is simplified.

Efforts of specialists of Softline created the uniform command center IT infrastructure providing harmonious interaction of all its components and giving to the staff of the organization an opportunity of independent administration", - Konstantin Postovalov, the consultant of Softline for IT solutions in the Ural Federal District told.
