The Ministry of Health of the Ulyanovsk region implements the VPN project for health facilities of the region

The federal telecom operator Rostelecom connected to a high-speed data network with use communication fiber optical lines treatment and prevention facilities of the Ulyanovsk region. This event was announced by the press service of operator on October 8, 2012.

Start

At the end of 2011 the Ulyanovsk branch of Rostelecom won an open competition for the right of the conclusion of the public contract regarding rendering services in creation of a virtual private network (VPN) on IP/MPLS technology on the basis of high-speed data networks by request of the regional Ministry of Health within the regional target program "Upgrade of Health Care of the Ulyanovsk Region for 2011-2012.

Result

119 connection points in 65 medical institutions are created, beginning from rural local out-patient clinics to large interdistrict hospitals. Besides, until the end of 2012 it is going to connect 22 more points in 15 medical institutions. Thereby Rostelecom created a regional segment of the Single state information system in the field of health care of the Ulyanovsk region.

According to the director of the Ulyanovsk regional medical information and analytical center Albert Gaynetdinov, "implementation of modern information technologies in a health care system allows to increase knowledge of the population, to increase quality of medical care and also to control a range of providing medical services to the population".
