"Smart" points increase efficiency of treatment of patients with a coronavirus in Moscow

Cisco and LANIT-Integration donated in Moscow COVID centers the innovation telemedicine system which works based on "smart" points and network infrastructure of Cisco. Thanks to the gadget the effect of presence is created. Now physicians do not need to visit zones with high risk of infection without emergency. Also it is an opportunity, for example, to contact surgeons who are in other city, during transaction.

The project on non-paid delivery of the solution LANMED to three Moscow COVID centers — a part of the global Cisco Country Digital Acceleration (CDA) program existing in 37 countries was reported in Cisco in October, 2020. In its framework Cisco accelerates national programs of digital transformation, creates new jobs and promotes economic growth due to implementation of innovations. At the same time the solution LANMED is developed by specialists LANIT-Integration (enters into LANIT group), its concept was thought over in 2019 counting upon the industrial sphere, but the pandemic accelerated solution development.

Due to the pandemic medical institutions were faced the need of remote work in hospitals. The less physicians move between dangerous zones, the infection probability is less. But at the same time it was important to provide communication between doctors who are on different sides of a barrier — Dmitry Schuster, the director of digital architecture of Cisco notes.

A system was adapted for requirements of medicine. The telemedicine complex functions on the basis of network infrastructure — "smart points" with the built-in video camera and the compact screen connect to other devices thanks to unified information environment.

The complex works so: the application is installed, then the specialist connects "smart points" and comes into a "red" zone where there are patients with a coronavirus. Conference communication (voice or video contact) is created — other expert is far off connected to points. It is possible to integrate up to 10 people. The "joint" bypass of patients begins, specialists can communicate in real time. Thanks to the gadget, the removed expert sees the same, as his colleague. There is an opportunity to send files and photographic materials. To provide complete freedom of hands during procedures, voice actuation is used.

Within the project the solution LANMED was free of charge received by 3 Moscow hospitals: Federal State Budgetary Institution GNTs FMBTs of A.I. Burnazyan, Federal State Budgetary Institution Federal Center of a Brain and Neurotechnologies and FGAU "Medical and Rehabilitation Center" of the Russian Ministry of Health. In the nearest future a system will become available also to other clinics. In addition, as Dmitry Schuster notes, during a pandemic free aid to medical institutions was for Cisco the major activity worldwide including in Russia. In particular, the company transferred in our country the network solutions (switches, routers and other) to several tens medical institutions.

Within the project, in addition to smart points, Moscow COVID centers, also on a grant basis, received also the solutions of Cisco which allowed to unroll the modern wireless network necessary for functioning of the LANMED system — Dmitry Schuster, the director of digital architecture of Cisco in Russia comments. — In the field of VR and AR high-quality wireless communication is especially important for solutions.
