MEI will create 3D - content

On March 3, 2015 the CROC company announced end of the first stage of the project of creation of 3D laboratory - content at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute (MPEI).

Project Tasks

It is supposed that the project will help the university to solve two problems:

• increase quality of training and memorability of material due to visualization of schemes and units;
• with 3D - technologies the university will be able to carry out more effectively scientific computations, to develop new installations, eliminating possible errors at a design stage.

All this as a result will help future certified specialists of university to turn out the better products which on the characteristics are not inferior to import.

"Now 3D - technologies already firmly entered our life and are an integral part of progress. Today not to use modern technologies in training — big omission. In our sphere 3D - solutions allow to solve a number of important problems: increase interest of students in obtaining new knowledge, improve comprehensibility of material, simplify creation of projects of big objects and imitate real technology processes. The western companies, for example, of National Business Aviation Association, Boeing and others, already actively use 3D in the work, and we do not want to lag behind them" — Valery Burov, the assistant manager of department of thermal power plants at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute (MPEI) said.

Project Progress

"That graduate students and employees of MEI departments could prepare independently new content, we provided training based on 3D school - solutions of CROC: explained the principles of work with interactive tools and as a result together prepared the first working model — the gas turbine unit with special construction of the combustion chamber" — Pavel Pochtennov, the director of the 3D center - solutions of CROC company reported.

Specialists of the company installed two classes of the 3D systems - visualization of production EON Reality. Together with a team of the customer pilot interactive content — the presentation of the gas turbine unit is developed.

Project Results

For March 3, 2015 the university uses interactive projective 3D - the EON Icatcher system for collective occupations. It gives the chance to project 3D - an object on one or several screens, creating uniform space. The mobile system for development and visualization 3D - content of EON Ibench mobile was a part of the equipment of laboratory. By means of its use students can work in the individual mode with 3D models.

The cost of the supplied equipment and the held training events of 3.2 million rubles.
