On July 18, 2018 ELAR company reported that in National library of Saints Kirill and Mefodiy (Bulgaria) digitization of rare editions using the Russian scanning equipment continues. The Tetraevangelion of the 16th century with a silver cover of the 18th century became the first edition digitized on ELARSKAN by A2.
As it was reported, began to be engaged in digitization of documents in organization since 2013, the special department equipped with professional appliances for scanning was created. Elarskan is set to A2 in the reading room of National library since 2017. According to the director of library professor Krasimira Aleksandrova, the scanner was ideal as for digitization of difficult documents, such as old printing books and manuscripts, and for scanning of modern editions.
Using the equipment we already transferred to an electronic form more than 40,000 sheets from different funds of library. So, 8,491 pages it is scanned from department of east collections, 21,394 – from the reading room and department of manuscripts and the old printing book and 11,857 – from historical archive. Among the digitized materials – the different types of directories, reference books, missing documents received on interlibrary exchange, the manuscript, for example, the Turkish manuscripts of professor Boris Nedkov, reviews of archive funds and other historical documents of national value. Also it was reported that the scanner is equipped with a universal adaptive cradle for the sewed and flat documents, books and archive materials. Automatic focusing and the mode of macroshooting, the mode of stream scanning and image processing provide the high scanning speed and quality of images.
Elarskan is installed by A2 in National library of Bulgaria in a complete complete set. In particular, to transfer densely sewed documents which are difficult for opening to a digital form the scanner is supplied with V-shaped clamping glass.
