The northeast federal university starts active operation of a cluster of Ariane Kuzmin

The INLINE GROUP company completed creation of the Ariane Kuzmin supercomputer constructed for the Northeast federal university of M.K. Ammosov (SVFU) (Yakutsk).

Result

At the end of November, 2011 at the Northeast federal university of N.K. Ammosov (Yakutsk) the ceremony of opening of the specialized Center of applied high-performance computing and the presentation of a computing cluster of Ariane Kuzmin was held. The new supercomputer entered in top-50 the most powerful computers of the CIS.

Solution

The project is executed by INLINE GROUP company and also HP SL390 consisted in creation of supercomputer DPC, including engineering support based on the equipment of ARS and a computer hybrid cluster on the HP BL2x220 platform (160 nodes, 1920 cores) (39 nodes with GPU M2070 Tesla).

Opinion

The rector of SVFU Evgenia Mikhaylova about work of the Center of the SVFU applied highly productive technologies: "Now in SVFU there are three clusters supercomputers. They find the application at the solution practically of any problems of science and technology. In this Center scientists, teachers and specialists of the ministries and departments will conduct researches and difficult calculations. It and modeling of physical processes, nanotechnologies, problems of computing chemistry and biology, medicine, design automation and many other things".

Project Features

The project of construction of DPC is executed less than in 5 months (July-November, 2011), in difficult climatic conditions. Similar projects average about 9 months. The complex ensures year-round functioning of a cluster in the temperature range of air from-60 to +40 degrees Celsius.
