MTS will create a cloud IoT platform for electricity accounting

2024: Plan for the creation of an intelligent electricity accounting system

MTS PJSC, a digital ecosystem, won a competition for the creation of an intelligent electricity accounting system for Novosibirsk Energosbyt JSC according to a service model based on the MTS cloud infrastructure. Within three years, MTS will install and ensure the operation of 86.4 thousand intelligent metering devices in apartment buildings of the Novosibirsk region. MTS announced this on July 9, 2024.

As part of the project, the cost of which will be about 1.5 billion rubles, MTS will supply, install and maintain new "smart" metering devices instead of faulty ones, with an expiring verification interval, as well as in newly built apartment buildings in Novosibirsk and the region. Within the framework of the project, it is planned to use "smart" devices of Russian production.

MTS engineers will deal with IoT systems for Novosibirsk Energosbyt. After installation, each meter is integrated into the IoT platform for metering and remote control of energy resources. The solution shows the state of the electric meters in real time, allows you to set the parameters of their polling, receive and transfer data from them to the billing system of Novosibirsk Energy Service. MTS guarantees operation of the system within 10 years after installation of the software and hardware complex.

For the communication of each IoT device, developers use energy efficient communication for the Internet of Things of the NB-IoT standard. MTS has a scalable NB-IoT network in Russia, which is deployed in more than 80 regions. The network has improved penetration capability, which provides a stable signal even in places difficult to reach for other communication standards, for example, in basements and basement floors of buildings. In addition, the traffic volume of transmitted data is significantly lower than that of similar solutions in the market, which reduces the cost of operating the accounting system.

We have concluded a long-term contact with Novosibirsk Energosbyt, which will provide the region with an IoT platform both in scale, timing and filling. MTS undertakes the creation of a complete complete automated system, including software, metering devices, data transmission network and data centers, as well as service work on installation and operation. The customer receives the finished product - data. Thanks to the service model, the client will be able to convert part of the capital expenditures into operating expenses, which will increase the flexibility of financial planning and ensure a gradual and seamless transition to the latest energy accounting systems. Intelligent accounting will make the process of calculating utility bills as transparent as possible, it will also be able to provide online control over the performance of devices and reduce the cost of taking testimony, "said Oleg Aldoshin, Vice President for New and Corporate Business Development at MTS.
