Rosenergoatom completes implementation of predictive analytics system at Novovoronezhskaya NPP

Customers: Novovoronezhskaya Nuclear Power Plant

Contractors: VNIIAES, Maintex
Product: Aveva Predictive Analytics (ранее Wonderware PRiSM)

Project date: 2020/05  - 2021/03

2021: Implementing Predictive Analytics

Rosenergoatom Concern (part of the Electric Power Division of Rosatom State Corporation) together with JSC VNIIAES (a subsidiary of the Concern) and Meintex Company have begun the last, final stage of the project to create and implement a predictive analytics system in the field of nuclear energy. This was announced on March 5, 2021 by Rosenergoatom.

The project is aimed at creating a prototype system that will detect hidden defects in the generating equipment of nuclear power plants in a timely, early stage.

According to experts, the introduction of such an intelligent solution at Russian nuclear power plants will not only increase the safety and reliability of Russian nuclear power plants as a whole, but also reduce the risks of fines during unplanned shutdowns, as well as reduce the duration of downtime due to repairs and minimize the number of violations and failures in equipment.

Specialists began to implement the project in May 2020, and power unit No. 6 of the Novovoronezhskaya NPP (Novovoronezha, a branch of Rosenergoatom Concern) was chosen as the site.

In March 2021, the most responsible part of the project begins. Developed and verified predictive models of several types of equipment - this is a turbine generator, a steam turbine plant and circulation pumps of power unit No. 6 of NVAES - have already been launched to analyze the current state of the equipment in real time. The pilot operation of the system should demonstrate the effectiveness of the chosen solution, "said Andrei Druzhaev, head of the Department of Digitalization of Technical Support for the Operation of Power Units of VNIIAES JSC.

Rosenergoatom, its branches and subsidiaries, including VNIIAES JSC, are companies that focus on progressive technologies, test best practices in predictive analytics and strive to actively develop in this direction. This decision has proved positive in the international market, including in the energy sector. It can help implement a number of tasks, including: analyzing large amounts of data about the operation of equipment in real time, comparing current parameters with benchmarks, and much more, "he said.

In turn, Viktor Tsaranu, head of the project office for the implementation of digital solutions during the operation of Rosenergoatom Concern NPP, said that the predictive analytics system is at the stage of integration into Rosenergoatom's current business processes. In the coming months, the results of the pilot project will be summed up and the prospects for the development of this area will be assessed. Spent solutions will be part of the so-called NPP Operation Template - this is an integrated complex of digital platforms and tools that ensures the optimal functioning of processes at the NPP - from the moment of design of the facility to its decommissioning. The template will be introduced at all Russian stations, and also proposed as a product for nuclear power plants built abroad by ROSATOM.
