In 2013 OPM-bank carried out expansion of a branch network and opened new office in Moscow. Before IT department of the customer there was a problem of upgrade of IT infrastructure.
Besides, emergence of additional branch was integrated to increase of load of the mail server of the company. The existing corporate mail based on Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 ceased to meet the requirements of fault tolerance, need for migration on new, more productive version of the solution appeared.
IT specialists of the customer considered deployment option at new office of own wood of a directory service and creation of the separate domain. The project looked labor-consuming, and OPM-Bank invited to help to decide on future model of the IT contractor - the Softline company having the high level of competences and extensive experience of creation of infrastructure solutions on the Microsoft platform.
For the final choice of model of migration specialists of department of solutions of Microsoft of Softline company conducted in bank examination of service Active Directory. The analysis of collected data showed that the approach selected by the customer bore in itself multiple risks: from idle times of infrastructure and services of bank in the course of migration to difficulties with their service in the future. In addition, data transfer to the new forest meant that project cost will be high. Taking into account the listed factors engineers of Softline recommended to carry out updating of mail in the existing AD without loss of level of reliability.
Egor Khalilov, the manager of sales department of department of solutions of Microsoft of Softline company, so comments on project works: "PCs of staff of "OPM-bank" were equipped with the Windows 7 operating system, and the Active Directory directory service – Windows 2003 in which there was no full range of regular means for management of all available functionality of OS. We updated AD to version 2012 that allowed to administer all aspects of setup of workstations. Besides, engineers of Softline carried out migration of mail on Exchange Server 2010, having increased the size of mailboxes of users on average from 50 MB to 4 GB".
The uniform structure of service Active Directory at offices of Moscow and the Moscow region allowed to centralize and simplify process of service of IT infrastructure, to reduce the cost of its ownership. Such approach allowed to reduce risks by the organization of mezhlesovy migration and also to considerably reduce final cost value of the project. At the same time it was not required to stop important internal services and thus to interrupt customer service of bank.
Updating of the mail server allowed to organize policy of message exchange in "OPM-bank" and to increase fault tolerance of all solution. For example, as a result of migration of Exchange rules of transport became available, maintaining the magazine, management of records of messages – this additional functionality provided the necessary level of control and reliability of a system. The new solution gave an opportunity more flexibly to delegate management, both at the level of the organization of the Exchange servers, and at the level of specific mailboxes.
"Initially we planned creation at each separate office of bank of own wood and creation of the domain. Specialists of Softline offered the scheme "single forest-single domain". Such option was for us optimal and economic. As a result not only considerably IT infrastructure and its administration became simpler, but also approximately by one and a half times costs for implementation of the project decreased", - Roman Paramonov, the head of department of network technologies and security of "OPM-bank" summed up the project results.
