The customer company is engaged in passenger traffic in the city of Nizhnevartovsk. The enterprise provides about 75-80% of intracity transportations, at the same time the possibility of fast scaling of IT infrastructure without purchase of the additional hardware is extremely important for it. As the conductor's profession is not really demanded today, in certain time in the company there was a problem of a staff shortage. Therefore when the shortcoming of conductors significantly complicated a company performance, the decision on implementation of an automated system of payment of journey was made. As a result the motor transportation company "PATP-2" transferred all 100% of the park of buses for use of the automated system of payment of journey (ASPJ) from November 1, 2013.

For ensuring smooth functioning of ASOP the company purchased and implemented a blade server of Fujitsu PRIMERGY BX400 and a storage system of Fujitsu ETERNUS DX90 in the IT infrastructure.

Project Progress

Having attended the presentation of the company, the management of PATP-2 decided to look narrowly at products of Fujitsu more fixedly. The customer company had a serious need for purchase of the flexible high-scalable systems – both servers, and DWH as in the past IT service PATP-2 had problems connected with impossibility of upgrade of the similar systems of other vendors.

At implementation of an automated system of payment the company management was guided by buying solution from the company leader.

The Fujitsu company was selected from quality of the supplier proceeding from several factors. The first – existence of the warranty service center Fujitsu in close proximity to location of the enterprise. The second – excellent scalability of the server systems of Fujitsu. Besides, in procurement process the considerable discount was provided for PATP-2 that became an additional factor for benefit of the choice of the systems of Fujitsu.

Preliminary testing of the server and storage system was not carried out, after purchase the equipment was at once developed in the server premises of the enterprise.

Both DWH, and a blade servers of Fujitsu are very flexibly scaled. In case of need for additional computing powers, on the equipment Fujitsu it is easy to increase a large number of virtual servers, without buying in addition the additional hardware. Virtualization it is applied not only to servers, but also to selection of the test virtual machines which are quickly used by some departments of the enterprise. The Fujitsu PRIMERGY BX400 server has enough resources not only for ensuring system operation of payment of journey, but also for test projects in other areas of work. A cover virtualizations – softwares Citrix XenServer, are also unrolled SQL- and Windows-servers. Besides, on the server of Fujitsu the FTP server and other IT services and applications are deployed. Six modules of memory with a total capacity of 6 TB were in addition added to a blade basket of PRIMERGY BX400.

Due to implementation in IT infrastructure a blade server and storage systems of Fujitsu ETERNUS DX90 it was succeeded to reach direct integration of processing of payment cards with the Enterprise bases 1C, there is a direct interaction of the ASOP servers to 1C servers. In the existing cluster of DWH Fujitsu ETERNUS acts as the main storage. As when scaling it is difficult to maneuver without support of infrastructure storage system with big resources of memory, now when using virtualization for creation of the new virtual server it is enough to select a reserve of memory of storage system for instant accumulation of computing powers.

Development of IT infrastructure of the enterprise directly depends now only on purchase of software products as there is enough provided computing power much for accomplishment of all current tasks.

In July, 2013 the company began to receive the equipment, and in November system implementation was fully completed. Breakeven point of the project came in 10 months after implementation.

At the same time the company managed to save not only own means. Upon transition to ASOP annual economy to the city budget of Nizhnevartovsk makes about 40 million rubles. In a year after implementation over 20% of passengers began to use payment cards.
