Peter Service will organize for himself "cloud" DWH

The Petter Service company implemented the HP 3PAR disk array in the business processes organizing these cloud DWH for development and testing of own products. The partner in the project - KOMPLIT company, the press service of the contractor reported on March 26, 2013.

Solution

"Petter Service", together with KOMPLIT company, for quality improvement of development of the software products in July, 2012 put into operation the HP 3PAR disk array in the St. Petersburg DPC.

"A main objective of the project — improvement of quality of the software products released by our company. We always aimed at it, and, I hope, this project will allow us to take the next step forward" — Mikhail Potapov, the director of IT department of Petter Service company noted.
"Our tasks included selection of storage system on the basis of the stated requirements of the customer and also assembly of an array on the website, equipment installation a cabinet in data center and connection to the storage area network — Kirill Ordynets, the lead engineer of a server group and DWH of KOMPLIT company told. - After the array was built and set, specialists of KOMPLIT made an initial configuration of the equipment under needs of the customer and also fact-finding training of employees of "Petter Service" in systems capabilities of storage and to methods of its setup for these or those tasks".

Technical details

As the solution F400 HP 3PAR array with two controllers is selected, includes 192 drives on hard drives with rotating speed of 15 thousand RPM., with a possibility of "hot" replacement.

Key advantages of the solution - automatic distribution of data between several levels of storage, the automated procedures of system management, dynamic selection of tanks under applications, specialists consider. Means of virtualization of HP 3PAR allow to create in one disk system of several "virtual arrays" isolated from each other for different needs of certain user groups. The solution differs in modest requirements to cooling and the low level of energy consumption.
