Pilot project of transport digitalization launched in Penza

2021: Launch of public transport management information systems

Since July 16, 2021, Datapax announced the launch of the project in Penza in test mode - a complex of public transport management information systems presented by Datapax, Sberbank PJSC, Settlement Solutions JSC (part of the Sber ecosystem) and MP Motor Vehicles. On July 16, Kostin Alexey Vladimirovich, VRIO Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Penza Region, took part in the presentation of this project.

Until September 15, 2021, residents of the Penza region and employees of the GKU "Organizer of Transportation of the Penza Region" on 4,5,101 and 103 routes will test a single digital platform, which includes a full range of solutions in the field of public transport management.

Buses are equipped with:

• passenger flow counting sensors for analysis of incoming/outgoing passengers and vehicle occupancy;
• satellite navigation equipment for navigation monitoring of traffic schedule execution
• media panels for informing passengers about subsequent stops on the route and other service information;
• video surveillance (8 cameras) for the internal and external environment of the vehicle vision and the implementation of anti-terrorist security regulations;
• validators for payment by bank and transport cards at each entrance to the bus and a mobile terminal for cash payment at the conductor;
• QR codes for paying for travel using a mobile application;
• an autoinformer for voice notification of passengers about stops and displaying information on route indicators.

All the established elements make it possible to accumulate large data, on the basis of which competent management decisions can be made on the operation of the transport system. This approach will fully solve all key problems and create an effective and transparent system of urban public transport for all participants (city, carrier, passenger), will allow the region to optimize the costs of maintaining transport and ensure the comfort of public transportation, and citizens will be provided with a convenient, affordable and safe service.

For residents of the city, the Penza Transport mobile application is available. Passengers with the help of the service can build a route, find out the schedule, find a stop, see the location of the bus and the forecast time of arrival at the stop.

Digital solutions will not only minimize the number of passenger contacts with the conductor when paying for travel, but will also help to save in the future, since after the introduction of the system into industrial operation and switching to a regulated tariff on all routes, a long-term travel ticket will be available to residents of the Penza city agglomeration, which will be "tied" to the bank card and presented in two versions: unlimited travel (unlimited number of trips on the entire route network) and travel for a certain number of trips, the more trips you pay, the cheaper the cost of one trip.

For the carrier MP "Motor Vehicles" for the duration of the pilot project, a dispatch system will be available that allows you to quickly manage the fleet of vehicles and monitor the performance of transport work by drivers.

Employees of the GKU "Transportation Organizer of the Penza Region" will be able to test the capabilities of the digital platform for managing urban public transport, based on the data of which it is possible to analyze the current state and create a convenient schedule for passengers.

According to Maxim Isaev, Deputy General Director of Datapax, an integrated approach to the development of public transport and the introduction of digital solutions in the field of transport management, which have shown high efficiency in other regions, can provide high quality transport services for passengers in the Penza region.

As noted by the deputy manager of the Penza branch of Sberbank, the digitalization of transport is one of the main tasks that Sberbank is actively engaged in. In the near future, everyone is waiting for intelligent public transport, which allows you to significantly increase the level of comfort for passengers (in payment, safety and drawing up routes), unloading urban transport systems and making a huge contribution to the budget of the region. The analysis of the collected data within the framework of this project will change the work of public transport, make it more flexible and convenient for passengers.
