In the middle of August, 2020 it became known that in Kazan prepare for start pilotless trains for the subway. The management of Transmashholding at a meeting in the government house of Tatarstan proposed to implement such system. The president of the region Rustam Minnikhanov approved an initiative.

He charged to create the working group for more detailed studying of a question. Representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Road Facilities of the Republic of Tatarstan, Metroelektrotrans Municipal Unitary Enterprise, executive committee of Kazan and Transmashholding will enter into it.
Transmashholding showed the presentation of self-driving trains. In it it was reported that control of structure is exercised on a radio channel. The managing director of JSC Transmashholding Andrey Romanchikov emphasized that the pilotless movement in the subway is focused on the passenger and contributes to the development of poorly populated energy efficient technologies.
No program for the pilotless movement is involved in one subway of Russia. By August 18, 2020 in the subway of Kazan 14 four-carriage electric trains ply. The subway consists of one branch the extent of 16.7 km with 11 stations.[1]
