In JSC Polyus Gold the project of automation of a budgeting system is complete

The IBS company is selected by service provider on creation of an automated system of budgeting of Polyus Gold company. A system based on IBM Cognos TM1 will cover all business divisions "Polyus Gold", on its base processes of budget management and consolidation of data will be built and automated.

JSC Polyus Gold – the leading manufacturer of gold in Russia and Kazakhstan who is among the largest gold mining companies of the world. The asset portfolio of the company includes fields in Russia, the Republic of Kazakhstan, Romania and Kyrgyzstan. For the choice of the platform of a budgeting system and service provider Polyus Gold held a multi-stage competition. The IBS company with the solution based on IBM Cognos TM1 left in a final stage where according to the results of comparative tests a choice was made in its advantage.

"Considering importance of the project of creation of a budgeting system for us, we very seriously approached the choice of the platform and the contractor. Having carried out preliminary elimination, at the last stage we considered two system prototypes specially created under this tender from different suppliers. In them testing of budget model proceeding from our data which results allowed to make a reasonable choice for benefit of IBM Cognos and IBS was held", – the head of department of economy and budgeting of Polyus Gold Zaytsev Andrey says.

During the project consultants of IBS should unroll a budgeting system which will cover the central office JSC Polyus Gold in Moscow and 7 remote branches. Budget models of business units of the company (on the basis of regulation from production indicators) and consolidation budget model of the corporate center will be for this purpose created. The created system should increase transparency of planned and actual costs and provide the sufficient depth of analytics for the management on places and in the corporate center. Detailed planning and cost control, including 300 thousand nomenclature positions of the purchased materials will be one of its main objectives.

Until the end of this year two business units and the corporate center will be automated. At the beginning of 2011 integration with the accounting system and automation of loading of actual data will be performed. Until the end of 2011 works on automation of other business units and subholdings will be carried out. The general project duration will be 1.5 years.

"It is the largest project of IBS company in the field of budgeting systems on the IBM Cognos platform, and, of course, it is uncommon in terms of expected volumes of budget data and need to integrate in the system of division of the client in the different countries. Also we will for the first time use the latest IBM Cognos TM1 software product. All this does this project very difficult, but also very interesting.
