2025: Creation of mobile courier offices
Pony Express has announced the creation of mobile courier offices. This solution allowed the company to reduce collection and delivery costs, increase response speed and create a product that is in demand both within the company and among third-party logistics operators. The company announced this on February 13, 2025.
Previously, the company used stationary city courier departments (GKO), but this format led to excessive mileage, increased fuel costs and non-compliance with delivery times. In addition, some services, such as intra-city express, premium delivery, urgent and regional deliveries, required the transfer of shipments between couriers, which complicated logistics processes.
The way out was the creation of mobile courier offices (MKO) based on cars such as GAZelle Next. Now the sorting and transfer of goods is carried out directly in the car, and not in stationary departments, which made it possible to optimize routes and reduce costs.
Results achieved:
- Reduce time losses by 54% due to the logistics center approaching delivery routes.
- Reduction in the number of couriers by 16%, which made it possible to optimize the staff and redistribute resources.
- Reducing off-route mileage by 75%, significantly reducing fuel costs.
- An increase in the number of invoices per stop by 15% due to the exclusion of situations when different couriers come to the same address.
- Reducing delivery delays by 3 times, which increased the quality of service and customer satisfaction.
The project has demonstrated its effectiveness, but needs to be improved. Among the identified calls are dependence on road traffic, possible failures in IT systems and the need for replacement MKOs in case of a car failure.
However, Pony Express is considering scaling the project and bringing mobile courier offices to market as a separate logistics solution for other companies.
