Positive Technologies completed audit of program assets

On July 21, 2016 the Softline company announced end of SAM assessment of a development environment of Positive Technologies company

Project Tasks

Being software developer, the Positive Technologies company is interested in creation and development of modern IT infrastructure for design, development and testing of IT solutions. For this purpose it was required to estimate strong and weaknesses of the existing regulations and procedures connected with management of a non-productive environment.

To book audit acting the politician of media control of development and to obtain up-to-date information about the available IT assets, Positive Technologies made the decision to execute the SAM Non-Production Environments project. Following the results the customer should receive recommendations for creation of the scalable and available infrastructure giving to IT departments the chance of quick reaction on need of developers.

With the partner in the project the Softline company worked.

Project Progress

During the project specialists of the contractor created the model in which aggregated data by the number of the specialists having access to a non-productive environment were reflected. Then by means of the solution Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit carried out inventory of product and test infrastructure.

The complex analysis of development environments was based on the data received during the analysis of control questions of lifecycle of the non-productive environment; employee records of department of HR; information on licenses.

Project Results

The project is executed according to requirements of structure of works (Scope of Work), provided by Microsoft corporation. The command of Softline estimated acting the policy of management of a non-productive environment and prepared the report containing recommendations about improvement of the operating SAM processes and to management of a non-productive environment in the company.

In addition to the customer suggested to use a cloud platform of Microsoft Azure for creation of the non-productive environment and carrying out tests that in the long term will help to lower finance and time expenditure.

Softline provided to the customer all necessary documentation where the basic principles of effective use of software and approaches to its licensing according to world practices in the field of Software Asset Management (SAM) and requirements of Microsoft are reflected. Now Positive Technologies has all data necessary for optimization of non-productive environments. The report created by specialists of Softline will become base at creation of the long-term strategy of development for IT infrastructure and management of non-productive environments in our company. The received recommendations will allow to provide transparency of licensing and to simplify procurement process of software.
