Onega Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant received a contract for the design and construction of six self-propelled shalands for FSUE Rosmorport. This became known in February 2025. According to the enterprise, the cost of each vessel will be about ₽1,1 billion.
According to Vedomosti, the ordered vessels are intended for the needs of the Azov-Black Sea basin branch. Shalands will be used to transport soil from dredgers to unloading sites during dredging operations in the offshore coastal zone.
According to the terms of reference, each vessel will be equipped with two screws, one deck and an opening hull with a soil hold of at least 600 cubic meters. m in the middle part. Ships will be able to operate with wind force and sea waves of up to three points.
The first vessel is planned to be handed over to the customer by December 1, 2026 in the seaport of Temryuk. The second vessel will be delivered by May 1, 2027, the third by September 1, 2027, and the remaining three by December 25, 2027.
Mikhail Burmistrov, General Director of Infoline Analytics, notes the unprecedented cost of the contract, linking it with rising prices for materials, increasing labor costs and increasing tariffs for natural monopolies. According to him, despite the tight deadlines, the contract can be fulfilled in the first half of 2028.
According to the Association of Sea Trade Ports, the cargo turnover of the Azov-Black Sea Basin for the nine months of 2024 amounted to 209.4 million tons, which is 31.4% of the total cargo turnover of Russian ports. The basin includes nine seaports in the Krasnodar Territory: Anapa, Gelendzhik, Yeisk, Caucasus, Novorossiysk, Sochi, Taman, Temryuk and Tuapse.
Onega Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant has experience in the construction of such vessels - in 2020, the company transferred to Rosmorport two self-propelled soil removal shallows "Morskaya" and "Smela."[1]
