2022: Digitization of coolant quality control in pipes

The Belgorod branch of PJSC Quadra (part of the division of Rosatom State Corporation - RuSat Infrastructure Solutions JSC) converts control over the quality of the coolant in pipes into digital format. This was announced on December 14, 2022 by the RIR company. In particular, at eleven central thermal points (CTPs) of Belgorod, specialists installed sensors for monitoring the severity of network water. This made it possible to automatically monitor the content of hardness salts in the coolant in order to avoid scale formation in pipelines and other power equipment. The incoming data, along with others, will be included as a field level in the basis of its own software complex "Digital Heat Supply," which RIR is introducing at the company's facilities.

Thermal power engineers installed 2 sensors at thermal points to measure water stiffness, and additional equipment - water coolers - was installed to make the readings more accurate. Data of solemers in the "online" mode is transmitted to the dispatchers of heating networks, which, as the rigidity increases, send the repair team to the TSC. The installation of sensors has increased the reliability of the operation of power equipment, and therefore the power system of the regional center as a whole.

Laboratory assistants of the branch regularly analyze the network water for the content of hardness salts in it. If this indicator increased, we used to bypass all DTPs and manually look for a damaged heat exchanger, from which hard water comes. Now the sensors help us determine where the problem occurred, and quickly eliminate it, "explained Sergei Ovcharov, chief engineer of the City Heating Networks of the Belgorod branch of Quadra.

In the future, this work will form the basis of the Digital Heat Supply software complex developed by RIP as a field level. The solution is being implemented at the thermal power facilities of the region, the preparatory stage is currently being completed. Digitalization of the enterprise's work using artificial intelligence will minimize losses in networks, reduce the number of emergencies and, in general, increase the efficiency and quality of heat supply.
