The RIKEN institute ordered the system of deep training at the platform of the supercomputer

On March 13, 2017 the Fujitsu company announced obtaining the order from institute of the physical and chemical researches RIKEN for creation of a rule of deep training, the basis for which there will be a supercomputer.

Project Tasks

The supercomputer (SK) which start is planned for April, 2017 will be used by the center of analytics Center for Advanced Intelligence Project of RIKEN institute as the platform for research and development in the field of artificial intelligence.

Building of RIKEN, (2016) institute

As a part of SK 24 of the NVIDIA DGX-1 server, each of which contains:

A system provides the overall theoretical performance more than 4 petaFLOPS (at accomplishment of calculations of half accuracy from a floating comma). During creation of a system preassembly and assessment of DGX-1 are executed in Fujitsu laboratories.

The supercomputer works under control of the specialized scalable file system of Fujitsu of FEFS; 6 Fujitsu PRIMERGY RX2540 M2 servers, 8 storage systems of Fujitsu ETERNUS DX200 S3 and 1 storage system of Fujitsu ETERNUS DX100 S3 provide the high processing speed of input-output operations for the operational analysis on the basis of deep training.

A system will be used by specialists of Center for Advanced Intelligence Project developing technologies for the fields of regenerative medicine, production, health care, management of the outdate infrastructures and prevention of effects of natural disasters.

The supercomputer will be installed in a data processing center of Fujitsu in Yokohama. In addition to standard software environment of deep training of DGX-1 which NVIDIA offers within a public cloud Fujitsu integrated the adapted software environment for use in the protected local area network. Special control functions for fast and flexible creation and reproduction of environments of execution of calculations are provided; exclusive reliability and safety at data processing of high importance, including personal data and data of intellectual property is ensured.

NVIDIA DGX-1, the first-ever AI supercomputer, is created to satisfy needs of scientists for the large volume of computing resources. High performance will accelerate work of the Japanese researchers in the field of deep training and will become a basis for the solution of complex problems in the field of medicine, production and public security.
