Renaissance Credit introduced Opengear OM with an independent communication channel for remote control and management of infrastructure equipment

On August 19, 2021, IBS Platformix announced that it had taken part in the implementation of Opengear console servers with an independent communication channel for remote control and management of Renaissance Credit Bank infrastructure equipment. As a result of the project, an infrastructure was created that ensures the redundancy of the main channels for managing the equipment of the data centers of the bank, as a result of which a reduction in the recovery time of the infrastructure in case of inaccessibility of the main communication channels and the global Internet was achieved. At the same time, for the first time in Russia and in the post-Soviet space, a solution from Opengear was introduced with the transfer of calculations to the network border in the form of microservices (Docker on the Edge), which can be launched directly on Opengear OM series devices. This opens up opportunities for IT departments of the bank to implement the concept of NetDevOps in the processes of operating the critical infrastructure of the bank.

According to the company, the bank's infrastructure is represented by a virtualized platform located in two data centers, geographically remote from each other. By the beginning of the project, the interaction of systems between data centers was carried out only through public communication channels using VPN technology. For the bank, the global network had no alternative and was a single point of failure.

In order to reduce the risks caused by the inaccessibility of the global network, Renaissance Credit decided to organize a backup management infrastructure based on 4G-LTE nets. This redundant management infrastructure is intended to be used for remote configuration of infrastructure equipment and server infrastructure, as well as for preparing to run the infrastructure to resume access to the WAN. As a result of the testing, an Out-of-band solution was chosen information from Opengear, which has all the necessary functionality to perform Renaissance Credit tasks.

The solution is presented by a console server with the ability to connect to it various types of equipment: network, server, storage. In Renaissance Credit data centers, equipment is connected to Opengear that forms the network core of the infrastructure. Thanks to this connection, bank specialists have a backup access channel to all hardware and virtual resources of data centers.

The IBS Platformix system integrator quickly provided the Opengear solution for testing and delivered the equipment. The implementation of the solution was carried out by IT experts of Renaissance Credit Bank with the active participation of Opengear and Factor Group, the official representative of Opengear in Russia and the CIS countries.

As a result of the project, a backup communication channel was created with the infrastructure equipment of both Renaissance Credit data centers, the recovery time from a failure was reduced when the global Internet was unavailable by at least 3 hours, and IT infrastructure reliability parameters were optimized.

The implemented solution allows you to configure data center equipment from anywhere in the world. We checked the performance of the channel from various points at different times - communication with the equipment was stable and met our expectations. representative of Renaissance Credit information technology infrastructure development and operation department
