2024: Moving Infrastructure to Private Cloud from VK Tech

Rosatom has moved productive infrastructure to an updated version of VK Tech's virtualization platformPrivate Cloud. The transfer process took 12 days without interruption in the provision of services. VK (formerly Mail.ru Group) announced this on October 2, 2024.

VK Tech has developed a technological solution for migration. The work was carried out by the combined team of JSC Greenatom and VK Tech. The migration to the platform was successful due to a pre-planned work schedule, which made it possible to ensure the continuous availability of information resources.

Thanks to the cloud platform, Rosatom has increased the number of information systems deployed in the private cloud fivefold. Scaling the IT infrastructure has allowed not only to optimize processes within the company, but also to ensure reliable storage and processing of large amounts of data, which is extremely important for the nuclear industry, where the security and accuracy of information play a key role. The work has opened up wide opportunities for nuclear industry specialists to develop this platform.

Rosatom's secure corporate cloud (WKO) has combined infrastructure and platform services, on the basis of which the main IT systems are located in the private cloud, including human and financial, services for internal communications and document management, 1C solutions, as well as an AtomID authorization and identification solution.

As Vladimir Zolotov, Information Technology Director of Greenatom JSC, noted, process automation, the use of big data analytics and the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies are becoming more accessible thanks to powerful cloud solutions. This, in turn, contributes to improving production efficiency and improving the quality of services provided by the company.

Rosatom, together with VK Tech, has deployed an internal secure corporate cloud. The result of the platform update was a new, more stable and productive functionality, which will form the basis of projects of the nuclear industry in the field of information technology. Against the background of geopolitical and economic changes, such flexibility in managing IT resources is especially important. The solution will make it possible to solve problems even more efficiently, and will also contribute to reducing the time for deploying infrastructure for information systems, "said Vladimir Zolotov, Information Technology Director of Greenatom JSC.

One of the most notable changes was the introduction of the app store, which allows you to easily deploy and operate systems, making the process of managing them more convenient and efficient. The possibility of unification of technical solutions used in information systems located at WCO facilities has been introduced.

Rosatom for October 2024 brings together more than 450 enterprises and 350 thousand employees who use corporate digital services every day to solve their problems. The project to migrate the State Corporation's IT infrastructure to the private cloud began five years ago with the transfer of the first 50 systems. It was important for us to help the team scale the cloud platform based on VK Cloud and transfer key solutions to it, providing enterprises with services that are protected and adapted to the needs of the nuclear industry, "commented Pavel Gontarev, Managing Director of VK Tech .
