RuTube integrated the newest balancers of traffic from Brocade

The Jet Infosystems company integrated group of 4 balancers of Brocade ServerIron ADX into the hardware and software system RuTube. This model is one of the last developments of Brocade company of Silicon Valley which is among world leading manufacturers and sellers of complete solutions for control of storage area networks. The choice of the solution was influenced by that fact that indicators of work of ServerIron ADX are many times higher, than at main competitors: the balancer is capable to process 175,000 http-requests per second and to support 16 million simultaneous connections.

Brocade ServerIron ADX solves key IT tasks of RuTube: reliability of functioning of infrastructure increased and the processing speed of requests increased. Balancers increase stability of a system, hiding real servers and infrastructures behind virtual IP-the addresses that increases degree of protection and prevents DDoS attacks from external and internal network. In case of refusal one of balancers another is capable to undertake his functions without interruption in work for users. At the same time using the additional channel between them synchronization of the user sessions is performed that excludes a possibility of break of connections. The solutions Brocade ServerIron ADX function parno, in the Active-Active mode, processing different requests of users. At the same time traffic is distributed between several servers under the HTTP, HTTPS, RTMP protocols, etc.

The project on testing and implementation of the equipment Brocade was executed in two months. Now the products Brocade ServerIron ADX are successfully used for solving of tasks of RuTube and NOW.ru online movie theater which is also entering into Gazprom Media holding. Abroad balancers of ServerIron ADX use Yahoo, AOL, British Telecom, Deutsche Bank and IBM companies.

Need for a new hardware-software solution for balancing of traffic arose at RuTube against the background of rapid growth of audience of the portal. At the end of 2010 the number of users of RuTube exceeded 1 million a day, and in April the company started the joint project with Odnoklassniki network that caused the cumulative growth of traffic of the portal almost twice. RuTube became the partner of the project "Odnoklassniki. To video", providing social networks the user (UGC) content and performing technical support, and cumulative traffic of the portal grew almost twice.
