Content

On November 5, 2013 the Compulink Group announced installation of a hardware and software system for virtualization of infrastructure services and subsystems at the Russian Institute of Strategic Researches (RISR). A project objective - replacement of the existing separate infrastructure of university by step-by-step upgrade.

Project Tasks

The main objective of the project - transfer in virtual environment of a subsystem of the uniform directory (Active Directory) where all resources of the customer, providing uniform point of entry and transparent access to all information resources of RISI contain. The new solution is designed to provide efficiency of use of resources, to increase efficiency of activity of organization.

Project Progress

Within the project specialists of Compulink Group created the work documentation, executed a system design, performed delivery of the necessary equipment.

As a part of the solution a subsystem of virtualization of servers on the platform of a hypervisor Microsoft Hyper-V with technology of virtualization Microsoft Server 2008 R2 and a management system of Microsoft System Center 2012. Trial operation confirmed reliability of a system and its capability to automatic recovery of working capacity.

"The general architecture was developed most effectively to use computing resources, storage resources. It was reached by use of a subsystem of virtualization of servers. Traditional loading of server resources reaches on average 7-15%, the subsystem of virtualization of servers allows to load the same resources for 60-80%", − Nikolay Ostashkin, the head of department of DPC of Compulink Group noted.

Project Results

With project completion of RISI it is equipped with a hardware and software system with failsafe architecture and ample opportunities of scaling. Delivery of software from one vendor will allow to save in the long term on licenses and if necessary to expand the list of subsystems. Upgrade of infrastructure, its virtualization will reduce the cost of ownership of a system, will increase its reliability, flexibility and performance.

"Today requirements imposed to research establishments mean existence of modern infrastructure. We carried out serious upgrade of a system of internal services, having replaced a number of outdated solutions untied with each other with the uniform complex using the latest technical approach. We are sure that it will allow to increase efficiency of our work and to raise the security level of a system and degree of its stability at technical failures" − Andrey Ruzin, the chief of the sector of Information and technical support of RISI told.
