2024: Plan to introduce intelligent modeling in postal logistics

Russian Post and the Skolkovo Foundation signed an agreement on the introduction of an intelligent modeling system in postal logistics from 2024 to 2026. The partner of the Post in the implementation of the project will be the developer Teraplan, which is engaged in the creation and support of optimization platforms and information systems. The Post reported this on May 28, 2024.

Based on historical data using artificial intelligence technology, the system will calculate the forecast for the receipt of mail at each stage of the supply chain. Then it will offer optimal mail delivery routes to the final recipient. The first calculations show that the system will help the Post reduce delivery times by excluding unnecessary transport nodes from the route or reducing their number.

Mail is actively introducing digital solutions into logistics, and this is facilitated by accumulated petabytes of data on mail tracking, operations at logistics facilities and communications offices. The company also uses a big data analysis system to build efficient international routes. In addition, in sorting management, Mail uses computer vision technology to recognize stickers, addresses and other parameters.
