Thanks to the system, a passenger can board an aircraft by independently scanning a boarding pass or QR code on a smartphone. As noted in Pulkovo, thanks to the system of motion sensors, it is possible to track the location and movement of the passenger and hand luggage during the passage through the turnstile. According to the developers of the technology, the possibility of counter-passage is excluded.

The devices are equipped with a controlled servo motor that takes into account the speed of opening and closing the doors. After passing the turnstiles, the system transmits information about the passenger to the airport agent.

The installation of automated turnstiles is part of a project to create a "seamless" environment for passengers at Pulkovo Airport, says Pavel Kushnirenko, director of ground services at Air Gate of the Northern Capital, Pulkovo Airport. - It implies an increase in the speed of pre-flight procedures due to the automation of some processes. We estimate that service time for all passengers waiting to board will be reduced by a quarter.

By the end of February 2024, the devices were installed at two gates; by the end of 2024, it is planned to install turnstiles at all exits of the departure hall for domestic flights. It is noted that this project is being implemented within the framework of the import substitution program at the airport.[1]
