At the end of May, 2020 at the Russian schools began to test the platform developed by Rostelecom for distance learning of pupils. It received the name Russian Online Communications Assistant and is developed by request of the Ministry of Public Education and the Ministry of digital development, communication and mass communications.
Access to a system is provided through the section "My education" of the portal of state services. It is synchronized with the calendar of educational events, electronic diaries and magazines and also educational content. School students who are absent on occupation will be able to be connected to broadcast of a lesson during the occupation or to browse records later. All materials will be stored in a personal account of the pupil several days.
Within the project it is provided including audio-and video conference which, according to developers, "is comparable to the largest foreign analogs, including Zoom".[1]
A new system will allow children to continue to study when they for the objective reasons, for example due to illness, cannot attend school — the minister of education Sergey Kravtsov says. — The child will always be able to stay in touch with the teacher and the schoolmates, will not miss lessons and to lag behind according to the program. |
At the same time Kravtsov explained that distance learning will not replace a traditional education system, but at this conjuncture such practice is demanded and modern for increase in knowledge of pupils.
We aim to provide such conditions that each school student always had an opportunity to study according to qualitative programs and to get a worthy education, – Kravtsov emphasized. |
Creation of the new platform for the video conference similar to Zoom, the government announced on April 18, 2020. In several days in the Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications promised not to prohibit Zoom at schools until department starts the "safe" service.
