SATEL has built a pLTE network for the Polymetal enterprise. SATEL announced this on October 31, 2023.

The introduction of a private LTE network (pLTE) at Amur Hydrometallurgical Plant (AGMK) one of the production sites of the Polymetal mining company was an important step in the implementation of the company's digitalization strategy. The digital environment has united corporate users, creating safe and convenient transmission conditions data through various communication channels.

A private LTE network (pLTE) is created within one enterprise, that is, it is not available from the outside. The main advantages of such a private cellular network are high reliability and security while maintaining a high data transfer rate. This technology is becoming more and more popular for industrial enterprises due to greater resistance to interference and more reliable protection of transmitted data compared to Wi-Fi networks.

At the stage of developing the digital environment of the enterprise, SATEL specialists, together with AGMK experts, assessed the specifics of the location of production facilities and developed a phased deployment of the pLTE network. To achieve the required level of network coverage in the conditions of dense development of industrial facilities, it was decided to build three base stations. The possibility of interchangeability of both stations and servers located in different buildings in case of technical malfunctions was also provided. This configuration of the system significantly improves its reliability.

Already in October 2023, AGMK employees use the functionality of the created digital environment. Based on MC-PTT technology, personnel communicate via radio communication directly from their smartphones, and a corporate telephone exchange is also integrated into the network. Fast data exchange improves the efficiency of using monthly risk assessment (ECR) cards - now they are convenient to fill in in electronic format. It should be noted that corporate information will never leave the private network, which is important when working with personal and other confidential data.

The created digital network has almost inexhaustible potential for the further introduction of new communication technologies at the request of the customer. For example, the system can be expanded to 5G format. From the point of view of cybersecurity, the undeniable advantage of the solution is the ability to distinguish between the rights of users of the pLTE network and the flexible setting of access to its functionality depending on the specifics of the position of the employee.

The created digital environment, the basis of which was the pLTE network, is a long-term strategic project for our enterprise. Although the functionality of the system is far from exhausted, it is already obvious that AGMK has taken a serious step forward in the field of communication technologies and has reached a new level of digitalization of the enterprise.
