2020: Automation of process of container transportations

On August 25, 2020 the Sibur holding announced start of a management system for multimodal container transportations based on SAP Transportation Management (SAP TM) which automates end-to-end logistic process – from obtaining the plan of shipments before delivery of a load to the client.

Management of multimodal logistics is the complex process including purchasing activity, control of an optimal podsyl and use of transport, the analysis of equipment, planning of the calendar of a zatarka and shipment of products from the plants with the subsequent monitoring of the movement to port, armoring of places in courts of sea lines, formation of the marine bill of lading and, at last, product acceptance by the client.

The SIBUR, one of the largest exporters in the market of container transportations of the Russian Federation, among the first industrial companies automated not separate processes of logistics, but an end-to-end logistics chain.

Transportation management system in the SIBUR means system implementation of management of multimodal container logistics. The functionality of a system gives the chance to plan the need for the equipment (railway platforms and sea containers), to create requests to transport companies on in-Russian and international container transport, to control delivery dates of the rolling stock on terminals of the SIBUR, to manage operations on a zatarka and shipment of a product from the plant and also to interact with sea lines when planning shipments in courts and preparation of shipping documents – bills of lading.

"In many large companies manage logistics using traditional instruments of communication, in other words – through mail, phone or messengers. Automation often affects only one link of a logistic chain (for example, railway or road haulage) or a separate process step – for example, creation of the portal for placement of transport orders. We went further, and using the TMS system automated and digitized end-to-end process of management of multimodal transportation of goods – from processing of sales plans of our products before its delivery to end consumers. The TMS system is a single window for implementation of all operations on planning, tracking and a design of transportations which considerable part is the share of sea sendings for distant export", - the project manager Oksana Dushkina told.

The system of multimodal container transportations is created based on the SAP solution TM which was finished under architecture and tasks of the SIBUR, for the purpose of ensuring due performance of a logistic complex ZapSibNeftekhim. In order that a system was convenient and intuitive, at first made the clickable model and tested it using real users – logisticians, managers, sales managers, specialists of settlement center. TMS integrated with other corporate systems – ERP, warehouse management systems, container platform, automated control systems / d-operatsiyami on the prizavodsky ways, the system of maintaining rates and production planning and sales. Also configured direct integration with transport companies – partners: infoobmena for review of shipping requests, trackings of a podsyl empty and movements of loaded containers, control of the equipment, armorings of places in courts and registrations of bills of lading were implemented. As an alternative integration the web interface – a personal account of the partner of the SIBUR in which specialists of transport companies can execute all necessary transactions was implemented and they are displayed in the TMS system at once.
