2024: T1 Holding Abandons Space Projects
On May 28, 2024, the holding T1 officially announced its refusal to participate in the spacecraft launch program, which was launched a year earlier in partnership with a private space company. SR Space This decision of the IT holding is associated with a change in the company's leadership and a revision of priorities. Now T1 will focus on the development of remote sensing (Lands remote sensing) services.
The T1 explained that not all technological projects "go beyond the pilot stage," and therefore the company decided to stop participating in space launches. Instead, attention will be paid to the development of a network of data reception stations. Currently, the network includes three partner stations in addition to its own, and data is received from more than 80 Russian and foreign satellites.
SR Space CEO Oleg Mansurov confirmed the suspension of cooperation, noting that the decision was made after the change of leadership in the T1. The reason was the low forecasts of demand for light missiles. The project was suspended at the stage of completed design of the media and preparation for production planning.
The decision to refuse to participate in the program for launching vehicles into orbit may be associated with more promising opportunities in the field of "light launches," said Ruslan Permyakov, deputy director of the NTI Competence Center for Trusted Interaction Technologies. In his opinion, T1 may be interested in a high launch frequency and replenishment of orbital groupings, which is more profitable from a business point of view.
The CEO of the hosting provider RUVDS Nikita Tsaplin noted that T1 is primarily an IT holding, and the new top management could reconsider the company's priorities. The "" Roskosmos assured that the plans of SR Space and T1 do not affect the development of public-private partnerships in space projects.[1]
2023: Preparations for Russia's first private rocket launch into space
T1 Holding and SR Space will carry out the first private launch of a rocket into space in Russia. The companies signed a cooperation agreement in the field of information and aerospace technologies. The T1 announced this on June 15, 2023.
The space launch is a pilot initiative of the T1 cluster T1 created within the holding. Aero. One of the main tasks of the cluster is the development of technologies in the field of space development. The data obtained during the flight in the future will open up the possibility of delivering small spacecraft and/or groups of them to low-earth orbit.
During the launch, scheduled for the end of 2023, the rocket will cross the Karman line (100 km above sea level). During the flight, the operation of communication systems will be checked, telemetry will be removed. An experiment on the transfer of information using the Internet of Things (IoT) technology to UAVs will test the capabilities to control drones using space infrastructure.
As part of the project, SR Space is responsible for overall design, engineering, ground infrastructure for rocket launch and operation.
To prepare the flight and subsequent processing of the received data, an examination of the T1 holding will be used. In particular, the CAE engineering analysis system is used to simulate aerodynamic and thermal loads acting on the rocket along the entire flight path, both before the flight and for calculation based on results. The use of T1 Cloud computing power will speed up the most complex three-dimensional aerodynamic and thermal calculations.
It is expected that the regularity of launches after the project enters the industrial stage can be up to once a week. In the future, this may become a new standard in the segment of commercial delivery of cargo into space.
In the perimeter of the holding, a volume of technologies has T1 appeared, sufficient for the implementation of the largest and most breakthrough projects. Space is traditionally considered a field of high achievements, requiring a large range of competencies. Therefore, the opportunity to carry out, together with a partner, the first private launch of a rocket into space in Russia will be an important test for T1 as the largest technological holding. Our cooperation with SR Space will accelerate the development of private cosmonautics in the country and simplify access to space technologies and services based on them for small and medium-sized companies, "said Igor Kalganov, General Director of the T1 Holding. |
For us, cooperation with T1 is an opportunity to switch to domestic software and refuse to buy expensive computing power. This will simplify and make it cheaper for us to develop new products. Also, for our company SR Space, this is an opportunity to significantly increase its capitalization through a new order and access to design and design technologies. And the joint experiment we are conducting will remove the technological barrier for the widespread and swarm use of drones, added Oleg Mansurov, CEO of SR Space. |
