Sber buys tens of thousands of ATMs in which it is possible to reserve tables from the South Korean producer and to buy tickets at cinema

On October 21, 2020 it became known that the Sber bank, largest in Russia, bought tens of thousands of ATMs from South Korean company Hyosung TNS. They are intended not only for introduction and cash withdrawal, users can use also services of courier service, reserve air tickets, a table at restaurant or to call the taxi.

Within digital transformation Sber is going to import 54 thousand ATMs at the South Korean company till 2022. It is expected that in 2020 the annual sales volume of Hyosung TNS will for the first time exceed 1 trillion wons, considering the growing number of foreign contracts.

In South Korea the number of ATMs is reduced together with use of cash. In particular, from 2013 to 2019 their number was reduced from 70,105 to 55,807.

In these conditions of Hyosung TNS began to focus the efforts on foreign markets, such as USA, Russia and India. As of October, 2020 the market share of the company in the USA makes 47%. There the products of the company supporting at the same time replenishment and money withdrawal are in the increasing demand. Hyosung TNS is the largest supplier of ATMs in the United States and third largest in the world after the American companies Diebold and NCR.

According to Hyosung TNS, demand for ATMs will probably continue to grow still some time. In the world there are about 3.2 million ATMs, and the share of the equipment which supports introduction and money withdrawal at the same time makes 28%.

Cooperation of Sber with Hyosung TNS began in 2018 with creation of the Research and development center. Activity R&D-центра is focused on research integration and also development of new solutions for effective functioning of ATMs.[1]
