Three years later after a scandalous gap Croc returned to number of the largest contractors of Sberbank.
On December 16, 2016 Sberbank and "Croc Inc." signed the annual contract for the amount of 1.3 billion rubles. It is about "maintenance services of computer systems". And it the only supplier had a purchase, i.e. Sberbank predeterminated that Croc[1] will perform[1]. Details of works are not disclosed.
For the last few years this contract – the largest at Croc, concluded with state companies, and the first of public (information on which is published on the website of state procurements) with Sberbank. Croc executes projects, comparable on money, for example, within development of the EMIAS system.
Let's remind, till 2012 Croc was one of the chief contractors of Sberbank. For example, in 2008, according to Forbes, 50% of the IT budget of bank[2] were the share of it[2]. In 2011 the IT company participated in construction of MegadPC of Sberbank and thanks to this project Croc increased annual revenues by 55%.
However, exactly history around construction of DPC became a reason for the subsequent scandalous break in relations of Croc and Sberbank.
In 2013 it became known that for data center the bank paid for servers to Croc four times more selling price of IBM: the batch from seven servers cost bank $31.47 million against $7.7 million (Croc delivered all to bank of 59 servers)[2]. All this became clear during the investigation of criminal case about failure to pay the customs duties which was initiated in the fall of 2013. The investigation believed that at customs clearance forgery documents were used, and the cost of the equipment was strongly underestimated. Searches went also at office of Croc, and house at some of his employees.
However, as a result none of the company became the defendant or the suspect, and tax audit did not reveal severe violations too. But effects of this story were unpleasant for Croc. It almost lost the most big customer.
Sberbank reduced a share of Croc in the orders. In 2012 revenue Croc decreased more than by 4.2 billion rubles (minus 11%) in relation to an indicator of 2011 when the DPC was under construction[3]. If before scandal the integrator received about 50% of the IT budget of bank, then, for example, in 2014 – no more than 10%.
As the CEO of integrator Boris Bobrovnikov explained in 2014, Sberbank remained quite large customer of Croc, however cooperation of bank and integrator was in the field of IT services: projects were connected with telephony, voice data and outsourcing of computing infrastructure[4].
Thus, at the end of 2016 Croc managed to return itself one of the largest customers.
Croc refused comments, having referred to confidentiality of the agreement with bank. Sberbank also did not begin to comment on an event.
