According to preliminary results, thanks to remote monitoring in the remote surveillance group, it was possible to reduce the number of repeated hospitalizations and deaths by eight times compared to the standard surveillance group. The university announced this on November 13, 2025.

Patients with chronic heart failure are a very vulnerable group of patients.

After discharge of patients from the hospital for effective treatment of heart failure, they are prescribed four-component therapy in initial doses and then, at the outpatient stage, the doses of drugs are gradually increased to the target ones. With increasing doses, patients often show hypotension. Therefore, in order to timely adjust the dosage of drugs in patients at home, the Hospital Therapy Clinic named after A.A. Ostroumova Sechenov University conduct remote monitoring for the safe titration of heart failure therapy, "said Maria Kozhevnikova, Professor of the Department of Hospital Therapy No. 1 Sechenov University.

For six months, clinicians followed patients after discharge and adjusted their dosage of drugs in two formats: remotely and standard - with periodic visits to the doctor offline. According to the results of the study for the entire period in the remote monitoring group, three patients were hospitalized again and one died. In the second group, there were 28 readmissions and five deaths.

In addition, in the remote follow-up group, the left ventricular ejection fraction increased by 11%, a very important indicator for patients with low ejection fraction. In fact, patients switched to another phenotype - the phenotype of heart failure with a moderately reduced ejection fraction, the speaker emphasized.

The Hospital Therapy Clinic is convinced that rapid titration to improve the prognosis of patients, when it is necessary to quickly increase the doses of drugs in severe patients, is possible only with the help of remote monitoring.
