Was set the complex task – to create an enterprise information system, which for IT department:
- will provide to employees access to all corporate information;
- will provide continuous access to up-to-date information about accomplishment of production plans of works in cuts of divisions, projects, employees;
- will allow to conduct work planning on the executed and future projects taking into account the required qualifications and also taking into account the probability of the beginning of new projects;
- will help to update schedules on a daily basis taking into account multi-layer system of work planning between Gipami and chiefs of functional divisions;
- will be able to consider project costs according to budget classification and to correlate them to planned targets;
- will ensure effective functioning with electronic document revisions: maintaining versions, search, separation into attributive and informative parts, differentiation of access rights;
- will support hierarchical storage of project documents and to provide different representations: on projects, on types, on other classifications;
- automates document flow of the enterprise as design and organizational and administrative documentation.
In the created system all staff of the enterprise – more than 400 people should work. A system should process more than 500 simultaneous projects, contain more than 20,000 documents and meet the most strict requirements for response time on the main transactions.
To implementation of an assigned task it was decided to attract Conteq company.
Project Goals and Objectives
Among tasks which faced company management of steel:
- control of timely execution of contractual commitments,
- planning of resource base of the enterprise for qualification, specialization and number of staff,
- control of profitability of the executed projects,
- performance improvement of work of high-class specialists.
Solution
For creation of the integrated support system of primary activity of the enterprise advanced technologies of Microsoft were selected: for ensuring joint work of employees, creation of electronic archive of documents and implementation of processes of approval – Microsoft SharePoint, and for support of planning processes and control of the course of project activity – Microsoft Project. The latest version of Microsoft Office 2010 gave to users an opportunity to integrate functionality of separate applications in the powerful instrument of automation of activity of the enterprises, creating end-to-end information systems integrating applications, usual for the non-management employee.
Results
The created prototype of an information system showed correctness of the selected approach to creation of the integrated information system using modern products of Microsoft. In the created information system all main requirements of company management, and without deep completion of these systems, with the maximum use of standard functionality were implemented.
