Contractors: Axelot
Product: Axelot WMS X5

Project date: 2020/12  - 2022/04

2022: Replication of Axelot WMS X5 in the raw material warehouse during production

With the help of Axelot WMS X5, Shcherbinsky Elevator Plant was able to conduct a global inventory of raw materials in production and "untie" personnel from working with certain item groups. Axelot (Axelot) announced this on May 30, 2022.

The warehouse is located in the city of Shcherbinka, the area of the object is 5500 square meters. m

The introduction of WMS made it possible to organize targeted storage and automate warehouse processes, now line personnel perform work using shipping documentation, and fixed terminals are provided to operators.

A characteristic feature of the warehouse complex is the separate maintenance of documents, while you can ship the goods both according to individual documents for certain groups of goods and, accordingly, the storage areas allocated for them, and according to the combined in several zones. In AXELOT WMS X5, shipping plans are combined into one order based on the priority set by the operator through document conversion settings. Depending on the urgency, an order can be collected both throughout the warehouse and selectively for a specific item group.

To prepare warehouse personnel for system start-up, immediately after the training, employees started working in the productive WMS base on working documents on the processes of acceptance, transfer and inventory to consolidate the acquired knowledge and skills. Thus, by the time of launch, part of the processes was well tuned, which allowed to reduce the load on users when starting industrial operation related to working in the system. The integration of AXELOT WMS X5 with the ERP system, as well as in the pilot project, was carried out using the DATAREON ESB data bus.

The AXELOT WMS X5 functionality that meets the current needs and specifics of business processes and the practical preparation of personnel for work in the system allowed the Shcherbinsky elevator plant to achieve qualitative improvements in the organization of warehouse logistics management.

For example, in the warehouse for the first time in several years, it was possible to carry out a complete inventory and update the information about warehouse balances in the database.

The principles of product selection are optimized. Improvement of selection tasks execution process became possible due to new capabilities on parameterization of placement rules setting, selection planning and procedure of planned tasks issuance:

  • The planning algorithm for selection and replenishment takes into account restrictions on the availability of loading and unloading equipment;
  • The least demanded goods are planned to be placed on the upper tiers;
  • Selection planning from the upper tiers is permissible, but is carried out in the last place if there is an irreparable shortage of storage places where replenishment can be carried out;
  • When scheduling tasks for selection, the "maximum cell release" optimization criterion is used.

Now employees are no longer tied to a specific product group, which means that personnel interchangeability is ensured. Further abandonment of work in the separate areas of the warehouse will ensure full interchangeability of personnel, which, in turn, will help to reduce the mileage of equipment, optimize the load of employees and bypass routes, as well as have a positive impact on many other processes of the warehouse.

2021: Implementation of Axelot WMS X5 in Finished Product Warehouse

On June 24, 2021, Axelot (Axelot) announced that the Axelot WMS X5 system was introduced at the Shcherbinsky Elevator Plant finished product warehouse.

An interesting specificity of the project was the organization of selection processes taking into account impersonal nomenclature. Also, the WMS system helps to observe the time windows during selection and shipment in order to avoid downtime of transport.

In 2020, the management of Shchles JSC planned to automate the finished products warehouse in Shcherbinka and began searching for a suitable system and project executor. Based on the results of the tender, it was decided to implement the AXELOT WMS X5 system.

The warehouse set to be automated has an area of 30,000 sq.m., there are hangars in which front racks are installed, floor storage is also used. About 14,000 SKUs are stored in the warehouse, each item is unique, since it is an integral part of the elevator structure produced for a specific project. As part of the warehouse automation project, it was also necessary to optimize the use of warehouse space, eliminate the influence of the human factor and improve the performance and quality of order processing. In particular, the introduction of address storage helped significantly reduce the time to search for cargo items in the open area. And the barcode technology made it possible to practically exclude interchange.

A feature of the project was the organization of work with impersonal nomenclature. Similar items, such as winches, which are suitable for many elevator modifications, are attached to the order (labeled) directly upon selection. Number pallets corresponding to the project numbers in the CMS in which the "impersonal" is to be packed are loaded into the WMS from the CMS. The attachment of the "impersonal" to the order directly during its picking allowed to significantly reduce the inventory, ensuring the current need for "universal" components of elevator structures. It was also possible to reduce the downtime of transport during assembly and shipment due to the increased speed of assembly of orders.

AXELOT WMS X5 is integrated with information systems using DATAREON MQ. 5 stationary and 10 mobile workplaces are automated.

With AXELOT WMS X5, employees can now manage the warehouse in real time, monitor inventory balances, and perform operations. The goals set for the project were achieved.

The management of SHCHLES JSC plans to develop the introduced system and replicate it in a warehouse of raw materials and materials, which opened in early 2021 and is built into a single logistics system of the plant, allowing minimizing movements between workshops.
