Koreans purchased the Russian geometrical core for a CAD

"Daughter" announced Ascon company of C3D Labs in September, 2015 sale of the license for the geometrical core of C3D of South Korean SolidEng. C3D Labs speaks about the product as about one of five most widespread commercial cores in the market^[1].

The geometrical core is a set of software tools (libraries) on the basis of which design tools, controls of CNC machines and different engineering software are under construction.

In particular, several products Askona are based on a core of C3D: three-dimensional modeling system "Compass-3D", modules "Compas-Grafik", "Compass Builder", etc.

The buyer of an askonovsky core SolidEng company - says about himself as about the leading South Korean consulting company and the system integrator occupied with three-dimensional design (3D PLM) in the automobile, space, ship-building industries.

Besides, SolidEng develops own software solutions for different productions and also mobile games.

For what works of SolidEng is going to use C3D core purchased at Askona, Koreans do not report. It is known that the agreement between the companies does not limit number of licenses for a core within uniform development center (thus unlimited number of developers will be able to work on the project using a core of C3D).

Transaction amount does not reveal. Representatives Askona say that it is customary practice for bargains on licensing of geometrical cores which, as a rule, every time are concluded on separately stipulated conditions.

According to information from the official site of Ascon, the license for a core of C3D means annual payment. At release by the customer of commercial products or services based on C3D, he should list to a royalty Askona quarterly. The value of a royalty does not depend on product cost — it fixed. As an option Ascon offers expanded technical support and maintenance with annual payment.
