2019: Summing up operation of KHD

On December 16, 2019 the Intersoft Lab company reported that in St. Petersburg bank results of operation of the corporate data warehouse (CDW) are positive. KHD became the effective platform for collecting and data preparation for analytical support of queries of Directorates of credit risks, accounting and the reporting, the staff of Treasury, the retail block and other divisions.

The St. Petersburg bank for December, 2019 services 2 million individuals and 50 thousand organizations, emitted and supports 1.4 million bank cards. For analytical support of the tasks connected with risk management, development of retail business and fulfillment of requirements of the regulator in Bank since 2014 KHD on the basis of the Circuit platform from Intersoft Lab company is used.

On the basis of the data collected in KHD analytical show-windows for preparation of different types of the bank reporting for the benefit of Directorate of credit risks, the Retail block, Treasury, Directorate of accounting and the reporting, other divisions of Bank form. Data of KHD are used for assessment and the analysis of a status of the loan portfolio, deposits of private and corporate clients, indicators of the obligatory reporting; supports of provisions IFRS 9; calculation of the payment budget of the client; studying of a consumer customer behavior, including participants of programs of loyalty, etc.

The Service of quality of data is responsible for reliability and reliability of the data collected in storage. As note in Bank, application of KHD allows to simplify access to necessary information - users can independently prepare the necessary analytical reporting - and guarantees its reliability.

For 5 years of work on development of KHD do not stop - the structure of the loaded data consistently extends. For December, 2019 data on main types of financial instruments come to KHD in addition to information on clients and accounting: loan portfolio, letters of credit, deposit portfolio, bank cards. It provides a possibility of analytical maintenance of relevant business challenges and requirements of the regulator.

The corporate data warehouse proved as the effective platform for processing of big arrays of the structured primary information for the analysis and calculation of different analytical indicators for the benefit of different divisions of Bank. 2014: Start of automation of preparation of the reporting based on the data warehouse Circuit

On April 28, 2014 it became known of the beginning of the project of automation of preparation of the management and analytical reporting in bank St. Petersburg. The project is implemented on the basis of the data warehouse Circuit. The integrator in the project is Intersoft Lab.

Project Tasks

The beginning of the project of creation of a corporate BPM system in St. Petersburg bank was preceded by big joint work of bank and specialists of Intersoft Lab company in creation of control techniques efficiency.

In March, 2014 works on the organization of the data warehouse in JSC St. Petersburg Bank began.

According to the Strategy of bank for 2014-2017, the decision to build the corporate data warehouse which in essence is today an obligatory element of infrastructure of modern credit institution was made".

Project Progress

Before starting creation of the data warehouse, it was required to prepare IT infrastructure, techniques and organizational and technology processes of St. Petersburg bank for the BPM project. For this purpose analysts of bank jointly with specialists of Intersoft Lab company performed setting of control techniques efficiency: the financial structure and account policy for the purposes of management accounting was created, techniques of placement of indirect expenses and a technique of assessment of cost value and profitability of banking products are developed.

The conclusions drawn as a result of inspection of St. Petersburg bank are the basis for the BPM project which accomplishment the bank decided to charge Intersoft Lab companies too.

The project assumes several stages of implementation.

At the first stage which is going to be executed for half a year based on the built data warehouse conducting management accounting and preparation of the management reporting will be automated, analytical data marts on the loan portfolios for legal and for individuals are created.

"Besides, with implementation of the data warehouse a part of work on preparation of the operational management and analytical reporting from an area of responsibility of IT service of our bank will pass directly to bank business analysts, - Yaroslav Shelin, the head of directorate on information technologies of JSC St. Petersburg Bank noted. – They will receive in the order tools of the Circuit platform for a reporting and the analysis using which they will be able independently, to operate without participation of IT employees accounting with the data and settlement managerial indicators collected in HD. And the staff of our department will not need to be distracted by "technical support" of preparation of similar documents, and to focus on the solution of the profile tasks".

Intermediate result of the project

On November 27, 2014 it became known of end of the first stage of the project of creation of an end-to-end system of business performance management in JSC St. Petersburg Bank. The contractor in the project Intersoft Lab company.

In bank infrastructure of the corporate data warehouse is created, processes of collecting of primary data in storage are adjusted, the technology of ensuring quality of data is implemented and the service of quality of data is constructed, analytical show-windows on  the loan portfolios for  legal entities and physical persons are unrolled.

According to the statement of partners, data acquisition speed for the analysis of the loan portfolio of bank vosmikratno increased, the trust to data from business users increased.

Completion date of works in the first stage of the project made nine months. During this time on BPM- the platform "Circuit" experts of the contractor razvyornut the corporate data warehouse (CDW) with industry model for the financial sector. Using the industrial integration platform Informatica PowerCenter collecting of the normative reference information, data on clients, accounting and portfolios of agreements on the credits of physical persons and legal entities is adjusted.

For completeness, faultlessness and timeliness of receipt of data in KHD, according to the results of the first stage of the project in credit institution, the new specialized division – Service of quality of data is created. With its help the organization of interaction of divisions for deduction of required quality of data in the core banking system is taken under control.

For directorate of credit risks of bank based on KHD analytical data marts on the loan portfolios for legal entities and physical persons are unrolled. Time of a full stroke of receiving the loan portfolio was significantly reduced. It allowed to pass to receiving analytical data marts on a daily basis and at the same time to lower load of the accounting system of Bank due to transfer of unusual core banking systems of analytic functions in KHD. For work with data marts business users of KHD were trained to work with tools BPM- platforms "Circuit".

"Implementation of KHD on the Circuit platform and creation of Service of quality of data already yielded positive results: significantly, by 8 times, data acquisition speed for the analysis of the loan portfolio of bank grew, the trust to data considerably increased, there was a tool allowing to control quality of data. According to the IT strategy of Bank, the corporate storage with qualitative data should become the reliable basis for automation of other types of the bank reporting and analytics, creation of an end-to-end system of management of profitability and optimization of IT infrastructure of bank in general", – Pavel Filimonenok, the vice chairman of the board of St. Petersburg Bank told.

Project Results

On February 25, 2016 the press service of St. Petersburg Bank announced results of development of the corporate data warehouse in 2015.

The main results of development of the data warehouse of bank in 2015:

• increase in trust to data,
• expansion of the nomenclature of data,
• BI reports for control of obligatory standards and financial performance of Bank,
• technology of preparation of the consolidated statements of Bank at accession of other credit institutions.

As a result of implementation, KHD became the main source of report generation on credit activity, remya preparation of reports it was reduced several times. During 2015 due to optimization of algorithms of preparation of data marts by the developer and as a result of work of "Service of quality of data" of Bank it was succeeded to reveal and remove the causes of emergence of different errors.

Today it is well visible that the data warehouse became a technology basis of trust of divisions of Bank to data. Thanks to technical and organizational standards of control of data which we apply the quality of corporate information constantly increases. Consistently expanding a data model of storage and filling it with new data, we have an opportunity to solve calculation and analytical tasks which were unavailable before on their basis.
