The Stavropol edge hospital mastered the advanced techniques of spinal surgery

It is about transkutanny transpedikulyarny stabilization of lumbar department of a backbone by means of the CD Horizon Sextant system of Medtronic Sofamor Danek company.

As in May, 2019 Vitaly Kosygin managing neurosurgical department of edge hospital noted, this technique represents the big importance for doctors of this department.

Installation of screws goes through a small cut under roentgenoscopic control. Such low-traumatic access for fixing of a backbone helps spinal surgeons to solve surgical problems effectively. And what is important, allows to apply quite successfully this technology at elderly patients and patients with the serious accompanying pathology — Kosygin explained.[1]

"The spinal surgery" is the field of medicine which is engaged in surgical treatment of pathologies of a backbone and spinal cord. Thanks to emergence of the operational endoscopic equipment, the modern systems for fixing of a backbone the number of spinal operations in Russia grows.

On February 5, 2019 it became known that in the Stavropol edge clinical hospital modern technologies in neurosurgery began to apply.

Modern technologies in neurosurgery

Neurosurgeons with assistance of the chief physician Rostislav Mozheyko mastered a technique of transkutanny transpedikulyarny stabilization of lumbar department of a backbone by means of the CD HORIZON SEXTANT system of Medtronic Sofamor Danek company.

In recent years in spinal surgery began to apply options of minimum and invasive interventions. One of such techniques is also chreskozhny installation of transpedikulyarny screws. Use of this technique allows to solve in most cases effectively surgical problems and also due to smaller injury gives the chance to apply this technique to elderly people and patients with the expressed accompanying pathology[2].
