On January 27, 2020 it became known of transition of the Russian airports to digital observation of flights. By request FEDERAL STATE UNITARY ENTERPRISE "State corporation on air traffic management" and under control of JSC Almaz-Antey Concern the integrated multiposition observation system behind MPSN the Almanac aircrafts was unrolled and put into operation in eight air harbors located in Novosibirsk Yekaterinburg, Kazan To Samara, Tyumen and Kaliningrad.
A developer of the equipment is the Digital Radio Engineering Systems company (TsRTS). The technology allows to observe in a zone of airfield and in a radius up to 9.6 km aircrafts and the land equipment.
The principle of system operation is that the signal of the onboard defendant is fixed by several receivers located in pre-determined locations. The arriving data are processed and the central processing computer calculates location of the aircraft in three-dimensional space.
As the chief designer of MPSN "Almanac" Yury Kapoyko specified, the airfield configuration of Almanac thanks to optimal geometry of placement can form a zone of observation not only at distance of 9.6 km from a runway end face, but also to 200-220 km in a radius of airfield.
TsRTS also delivered more than 200 mobile gnome radio beacons installed on the land special transport moving in a zone of airfields. According to Yury Kapoyko, this device using a magnet fastens to a roof of the land vehicle – whether it be the escort car, or the snow-removing equipment. "Gnome" allows an object to become "visible" managers in the field of observation of Almanac, he added.
In 2020 implementation of MPSN "Almanac" at the airports will continue. In particular, it is wanted to be set in Krasnodar, Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Saratov and Chelyabinsk.[1]
