The data warehouse of Holcim (Rus) using the SAP solution BusinessObjects

Softline announced in December, 2011 project completion of creation of the data warehouse for Holcim (Rus) company which allowed the staff of the organization to pass from manual creation of the reporting to automatic and it is essential to increase quality of management decisions.

Holcim (Rus) performs the activity connected with capital investments in securities of the enterprises of the cement industry in the territory of the Russian Federation and the CIS countries. A majority shareholder is Holcim – the international concern founded in 1912 in Switzerland, the world leader in production and supply of cement, concrete fillers (crushed stone, gravel and sand) and also ready concrete and asphalt mixes.

Holcim (Rus) in the business uses SAP application of ERP. To increase efficiency of management decisions of the company the possibility of creation of additional reports and analytics complicated by organizational barriers within existing application was required.

The team of specialists of Softline which is including the project manager, the architect and the business analyst, suggested to develop and implement a local storage system and analytical reports on the platform of the SAP solution BusinessObjects which allows to automate process of reporting and to increase quality of management decisions was engaged in project implementation.

At the first stage of work as specialists of Softline preproject examination which result was a report which is visually reflecting the existing workflow system and reportings, ways of creation and implementation of a new system, containing the recommendations about business process optimization, differentiation of spheres of responsibility of IT-systems was conducted.

At the second stage of cooperation the system design of indicators and the data warehouse and their further creation was performed. And in project completion setup of all necessary reports was made, the work documentation on a system is prepared, user training to work in a new system is organized.

This project had a number of features which made it more interesting in implementation process, and further work with a system – is more effective. For example, implementation of work in the system of users of different competence and access rights to information, ensuring access to a system through Internet network that saved from territorial dependence, the constructed system is integration, i.e. has both function of data loading from different sources, and import of the received reports to third-party applications.

"Distinctive feature of the constructed storage is consolidation of data from the different accounting systems: SAP ERP, systems on customer relationship management and also systems on introduction, editing and the approval of plans. The last information system is own development of department of business consulting of Softline company and represents flexibly configured web interface for data management, placed in relational storage", – Irina Krivenkova, the director of management of services of Softline company says.
