Software Selection

The choice of the software (S) for control automation by the plant was performed in 1994. Up to this point at the plant the programs developed by departments of an ACS of other enterprises of the ship-building industry and revised by forces of own IT department were used. And the farther, the it became clearer that such technology does not allow to cope with assigned tasks. First of all the efficiency of making changes suffered. Therefore the decision on selection of the external developer was made.

According to customer representatives, the only thing from all complexes analyzed by them which completely closed all range of the tasks set in the field of control automation was at that time the COMPASS-the Giant software package.

As the most important selection term of software supplier also the quality and efficiency of service served. Besides, played a role and a possibility of step-by-step (module-by-module) acquisition of programs when software can be increased in process of growth of own needs of the Customer, but not at the request of the seller.

As and after five years' cooperation, specialists of the Gun plant were not disappointed in the listed advantages of KOMPAS company, in 2000 when there was a need of transition to more modern platform (Windows and the MS SQL Server), the unanimous decision on replacement of a packet "KOMPAS was made there is a Giant" on the ERP system "KOMPAS of MS of ELITE".

If to change the strategic partner then it is necessary to change also all softwares at the enterprise, and it is huge finance and time expenditure. General Description of the Project

The project of complex implementation of the COMPASS-the Giant software package was implemented by forces of consultants of department of implementation of KOMPAS company during 1995 Software its end were automated business – processes as:

  • summary accounting;
  • accounting of fixed assets;
  • registration of personnel;
  • payroll;
  • accounting of the deposited salary;
  • settlings with advance holders;
  • material accounting;
  • accounting of means in cash desk of the enterprise;
  • accounting of means on the checking account;
  • office-work;
  • currency calculations;
  • control of settlement by suppliers and consumers.

In 2000 step-by-step replacement of modules of a packet "KOMPAS – the Giant" on modules the ERP system "COMPASS" began. As a result to already automated business – to the processes transferred to the new platform were added:

  • inventory control;
  • work planning on ship repair;
  • unloading of data for PF and FTS in electronic form.

From an interview of the Deputy chief accountant of the Gun ship-repair plant on IT I.P. Larry: ... Familiarizing with others experience was interesting (and a little unexpected for us) effect of the address to the external developer. If software were written by our specialists, then they would "be aloof". And KOMPAS company implemented the programs at the most different enterprises, and versatile experience of her employees helped us with permission of any impasses. In certain cases KOMPAS was for us primary source of information on changes in the legislation which reached us in the form of new versions of programs... ... At KOMPAS company the quality of support was much better than our native data-processing center... ... Some Specific Features of the Project

  • In transfer process of enterprise management from a packet "KOMPAS – the Giant" on the ERP system "the COMPASS of MS of ELITE" was executed import of all data from dbf-Formatov which are saved up for many years to the MS SQL Server DBMS format.
  • In the course of project implementation production department of KOMPAS company complemented the ERP system with the specialized program "Marine of 2000" intended for planning and management of ship repair.
  • One of critical tasks for the Gun ship-repair plant was accounting of fixed assets, in particular, the correct charge of wear and the fixed asset depreciation which are on preservation. Production department of KOMPAS company executed completions for correct implementation of this task.
  • The subsystem Fixed assets was complemented with functions of depreciation on an overhaul of fixed assets.
  • The functionality of automatic distribution of charged depreciation of the fixed assets used within one reporting period in the different purposes according to different costs accounts was developed.
