Transport holding Major (TopLog WMS)

The TopLog company completed the project on automation of the Center of Distribution of the Meydzhor-Chismena cars of transport holding Major. The Russian solution is implemented on a technology platform "1C:Enterprise 8". The TopLog WMS system covers all business processes of the terminal of 180,000 sq.m and is operated in 40 workplaces.

System implementation increased customer service quality of holding, provided effective exchange of operational information with other divisions, and, above all – completed the formation of completely automated logistic chain of holding (the international transportation – customs and regional transportation – storage – delivery to the dealer).

Transport holding Major – one of the largest logistic providers in Russia. Major provides strategic management with supply chains on all way of the movement of goods, providing to clients the finished transport and logistic solutions including a full range of the accompanying service. According to the rating of the Forbes magazine of 2007 the Major holding takes the 35th place in the list of the largest private companies of Russia.

The center of Distribution of the Meydzhor-Chismena cars is a modern compound of the class "A" which provides a full range of services in storage, processing, pre-sale preparation and delivery to the final receiver of new cars. The terminal is located in 80 km from MKAD on Novorizhskoye Highway (M9, the route Baltic).

Main characteristics of a compound:

• total area is 18 hectares;
• the storage area of cars is expected 9500 parking places;
• capacity makes more than 1000 cars a day;
• the parking territory for 50 car carriers (a waiting zone);
• the zone of loading unloading and inspection of cars is expected simultaneous processing of 32 car carriers.

The task of business process automation of the compound working by the principle of a warehouse complex with the specific features inherent in automobile business was set for TopLog company. Along with standard warehouse transactions (acceptance, placement, selection, shipment, movement and inventory) the compound needed process automation of registration of damages of cars, pre-sale preparation (PDI), access control on the territory and standards for service of car carriers.

The drawing solution "TopLog WMS" with Billing, Time recording and Accounting of Supplies add-on modules was taken as a basis. The openness of "TopLog WMS" and a possibility of its easy setup allowed to implement all functional requirements of automobile holding for management of a compound in the minimum terms. The project was executed in 4 months from May to August, 2008. A system works already over a year without uniform failure and develops, satisfying new requirements of the growing business.

The main opportunities of the operated system:

• automatic scheduling and control of standards for accomplishment of orders for acceptance/shipment of cars and to service of car carriers;
• data exchange with corporate systems of clients, an internal system of transportations, a system of accounting of damages and a corporate system of the motor transportation enterprise;
• registration of damages and automatic preparation of consignment documents in the course of acceptance and shipment of cars;
• functionality of WMS for management of a warehouse, support of radio data collection terminals and automatic control of tasks for workers;
• access control of car carriers, cars and employees on the territory of a compound and to the storage area;

motivation of personnel according to the diagram of attendance and on the executed transactions;

• automatic mailing of the reporting in the MS Excel format to the management of structural divisions and third-party consumers of information who do not have access to base.

A system is operated in the round-the-clock mode. Along with it about 40 users work: 20 warehouse workers with data collection terminals, the manager on service of car carriers, protection on external and internal perimeters, operators on registration of damages and preparation of primary documents, the management of a compound and office users.
