On January 20, 2022, it became known that the US Department of Agriculture signed a $1.2 billion contract with Lumen Technologies for the digital transformation of the industry. Among other things, the project involves upgrading the IT infrastructure of the department with "a fully integrated global data service with secure remote access, contact center, and cloud connectivity solutions."
According to Lumen's press release, IT services will be provided in 9.5 thousand branches of the US Department of Agriculture and will serve almost 100 thousand employees. An order for the task was issued as part of the $50 billion 15-year Enterprise Infrastructure Solutions (EIS) program of the General Services Administration.

The work under the contract includes a number of solutions, thanks to which the US Department of Agriculture will receive an updated managed and secure network with voice solutions that support speeds of up to 100 gigabits per second.
